"LONDON, Jan. 11 - A marriage in Britain was annulled after it was revealed that the bride and groom were actually twin siblings who had been separated at birth."

I can't believe that they innocently thought "Hey, don't we look similar"

I actually knew someone who dealt with a case like this (this was many years ago) – the couple in question met and fell madly in love because they said they just had this huge connection with each other from the first time they met.

It must be really tough for them, though – imagine meeting the love of your life and then finding that out?

Interesting stuff, though. I've got friends who I've known for years (one for longer than I've known my brother, technically) and I see them more like siblings because we virtually grew up together, and the idea of thinking of them like that is as weird as it would be with a family member, so I can see how it would work the other way too.

I find it rather sad. Thinking they'd met their soul mate and then a sudden revelation brings it all crashing down. The poor couple must have slept together loads of times, imagine how they feel about that now.

Really quite tragic IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear of more and more of these types of situations as time goes on. Especially with artificial insemination, egg/sperm donations embryo adoption, and the myriad of other ways to conceive these days. It will be fairly easy for half, or even full blood siblings to meet up and have no clue that they are biologically related, and with the anonymous donors there may even be no record of their genetic relation.

never thought of all those situations ... i don't think we'll see many twins. but i can see siblings not know it..

this is incredibly sad. terrible!

I'm hoping they didn't have sex b/c that would be downright sad for sure.
It's bad enough knowing that the love of your life is your brother/sister, but imagine if you had sex with them thinking they were your lover. my God!

I hope they are strong b/c if they can't be together, can they still be friends or siblings? I might find it very hard.

But then again, maybe they'll take it all in stride. hopefully, that's the case.

ok..i just read they did get married so i'm assuming they consummated their marriage :(

what a tragedy!

You'd think they'd keep in touch one way or another, as friends, siblings or some other, unimaginable thing.

Unlike a bad breakup or even divorce, I think it would be very hard to spend the rest of your life having gone through this and not thinking about the other person.

I was thinking the same thing. How awful for them. They must have been terribly in love to get as far as marrying each other. I can't imagine that but in the way you've just lost the love of your life. They must have been gobsmacked and didn't believe it for some time.

Umm do you really think that the majority of people nowadays wait until marriage to have sex?

"consumated their marriage" isnt that a little archaic ?
