I'm guessing those towers are there because of Apple's location and proximity to a major area freeway. Their relatively-tall buildings make for an ideal cell site, IMO. I bet they do get decent coin to allow the towers on their site.

That makes a lot of sense. Earlier today it was also said that the SF area was in need of more towers but has a shortage of places to put them. I'd imagine the carriers would take just about any location possible.
 
If iPhone were to begin being sold on other carriers, tmobile would be the first. And this would not exclude AT&T
