does this have a point anymore if they are streaming the video live?

If someone is unable to watch the live stream, whether they are at work or have plans, then this topic might still have a point. I'm assuming Apple will still post a copy onto their site a few hours after the event. So this is a safe way to get the link.

No, but at least you could be appreciative of this site's efforts to provide a spoiler free link to those who cannot watch it live, or in past times Apple did not provide a live stream.

A few members may be shatting themselves right about now but ...

^ This.

Seriously Sixtafoua. Some of us have grown up jobs in the grown up world that do not permit the streaming or watching of anything that resembles a TV show during work hours. Heck, some people cannot even listen to music while working. These people may be able to get away with reading and for that, this thread helps those who wish not to have their fanboi fun spoiled by reading the countless threads on the new product launches.

So yeah, try to appreciate the efforts the site does put forth for people who don't sit around on their ass doing nothing all day unrestricted.

Ah.. YES! You forget about the rest of the world! Those of us (in the southern hemisphere) who want to go spoiler free but won't be up watching at 3am!

The live stream requires Snow Leopard.
I'm still running Leopard on a PB G4, so I'd love this thread to survive!

void, the spoiler-free world needs you!

okay, okay, I figured it out: I'll wait till the stream is up and running, then I'll set up my camera in a dark room and point it at the screen with a cable for good audio quality, et voilà, instant replayability once I get home from the meeting :D:D.

So essentially, You're making a telesync copy of the keynote? Excellent.

Hi. Will someone Record the show and post it in this thread?

Cheers :)

So essentially, You're making a telesync copy of the keynote? Excellent.

yes and yes.

However, encoding and uploading video takes time. My timeframe (in your timezone time):

10 am: keynote starts, I leave for the meeting and hope nothing goes wrong.
11.30: I get back from the meeting, and the keynote should be nearly finished by then.
11.45: I start encoding my 720p source video into two different videos a small one and a larger one after that, I'll try to combine the brains my macbook pro and my family's iMac

now things start to get hairy, I don't really know how long all this will take, so these are estimates, I'll post updates in this thread however on how long it is taking.

13.30: I start uploading the first, smaller video to youtube (I have a legacy director's account that allows for longer movies), which should be viewable immediatly after the upload is complete. I'm aiming at 300 mb, and with my connection speed that's about 1h45m

15.15 you can watch the first version, and the second version should soon be ready to be uploaded

18.30 larger video is uploaded and ready for watching.

I'll do some testing with an older keynote now to see how and what en when...

okay, just tried it out on a different keynote:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw9KO1sG2xg

don't set your sound too high, sound only works properly at 0:49

for tonight, I'll use a dark room, so you won't see me reflected in the screen.

Is this watchable enough for those who had requested a recording of the live-stream?

You do know that Apple uploads the keynote as a .mov-file pretty soon after the end of the event, right? I don't think you need to go through the hassle of putting it up on youtube.

Well, I don't know if you'll be able to watch the live stream with a delay, and it will only work for people with Snow Leopard, so that narrows the audience for the stream down quite a bit.

And there's no telling when Apple will post a .mov

The live one is up. Not the actual keynote video file, which is what most people in this thread wants/needs.

Dammit! I've been avoiding the apple sites because I didn't want spoilers... normally get my girlfriend to scope out these here forums for me every time.

Many thanks from her to voidness for all previous times!

And now I see there's a live stream but I've missed the beginning. Balls.

Can someone who's watching it live tell us when it's over?

Not that I won't be making her constantly click the standard keynote bookmark every couple of minutes anyway. Just in case. :p

I'm assuming I can't start the live feed from the beginning? I guess I'll have to wait until the video is up instead of only watching the last quarter.

Thanks! Just checked Apple's site for the link where it was last night and was greeted with a spoiler even though I was zoomed in really far on an iPhone.

Edit: Was the quality this bad on an iPad during the live stream? I'm assuming the HD version wont be up for a while, so I'll cope with this.

okay, normally I have the stream recorded, but since it's available to rewatch, should I convert and upload it?

If 2 people here want it on youtube, I'll do it, but I need to hear from you first.

(people on windows or a non-snow leopard Mac)

I can't watch the stream here. I'd like to see it.
