2 iPhones, 3 iPads and a new Apple TV does seem like a lot to get through in one event, especially with iOS 9 and Watch OS 2 as well. I'd have though the iPad Pro would deserve a stage all to itself. I do hope it's true though, I'm desperate for a new iPad.

not all that much depending on what exactly they need to announce. The two phones might just be identical except for size so that's easy enough to cover in 30-40 minutes. Same with the 3 iPads (if there are three). 10 minutes to talk about the new Apple Stylus that you can buy to use with any ios device. That leaves the Apple TV and any kind of validation etc system. might be tight to cover in 90 minutes but as its their event if they want to push it to 2 hours they will

They already talked about those in detail in June. The only things they would need to mention are those things that tied into any hardware that they didn't mention cause they didn't want to spoil things.

Yea they did at WWDC but they also go over some of the features again, i just think that it would be to much for Apple to announce iPhones, new Apple TV and iPad's at the same event, i could be wrong and they could fit it into the 2 hours that they usually have. However i think Apple prefer to have the iPad's and iPhones at separate events so that they don't overshadow each other especially if they plan to introduce the iPad Pro.

I think the iPad Pro or whatever it will be called should run OS X no iOS. If it wants to compete in the tablet market it will need to match the flexibility of the Microsoft Slate with USB and installable applications. A Pro tool needs flexibility and should not be locked down like the current iPads.

If it runs OS X it's not an iPad. I'm sure Apple would have put a lot of thought into what features and apps would be required for "pros". A touch screen Mac and some sort of iOS/OS X merger might happen at some point in the future though.

The Surface is a really cool device but it's not a particularly good tablet or laptop. I certainly couldn't replace my 300g/8" Mini with a 600g/11" Surface 3 and my MacBook Air is super powerful and portable if I need to do some coding/report writing away from my desk.

If Apple released a "Surface" with the Air 2 form factor and weight, OS X/iOS hybrid, at least 4GB of RAM and handwriting/stylus support I would buy it (but it would also probably cost $4000).

I don't think they'll mention the Mac. But it is rvery possible for them to mention an update about iPads and iPhones. Better wait for it though!

Who knows. I just want real stylus support. Apple has slowly been losing me as a customer over the last 5 years, and at this point it's pretty much the only thing that will get me to ever buy another iPad. I'm still running an iPhone 4S, but don't really need an upgrade - but I'd probably stick with iPhone when I do. Otherwise, I never use my iMac anymore and the value proposition for Windows PCs is so much better at this point. iPad is just kind of boring now and I'm pissed my Air is already obsolete as far as key iOS 9 features like multitasking. Apple Watch is just stupid and the poorest example of Apple "innovation" I can think of.

A stylus on a nice, more functional tablet though, and I'm in. Otherwise I'll run my Air into the ground and look at Surface Pro 4.

I don't think an iPad Pro would run OSX, but that would be awesome. I've always been hoping that Apple's end game was to merge iOS and OSX into a unified OS. I don't think it would be very difficult to make OSX touch friendly - obviously it couldn't go on an iPad as is though.

No ipad pro with osx. Sure. Apple has just released a 12" macbook with osx and now it's going to release a 12'9" ipad pro with ios. The keyboard of the new macbook is so thin that, I think the next steep is to release a keyboard with an intel core-M cpu-gpu inside, that you could use like an advanced dock for the ipad pro.
Think about it, when you need a tablet you have ipad pro with a9x and if you need more power for work advanced duties, you link the keyboard and you add the core-m performance. This is the future of apple macbook-ipad, both in one, but not yet. It's simple, Apple isn't going to release it until they can design an osx-ios combo, with seamless integration and with the best possible user experience...
Nowdays, give me an ipad mini 4 as tablet and a macbook as laptop!

Interesting take on it. Eventually we get down to one true device to rule them all.:)

I am wondering if "The One More Thing" is going to be the iPad Pro with a long release date. The MacBook had a long release date from when it was announced and then shipped. If that is the case, I can see the iPad and the iPad Mini being silent updates. I think iOS 9 will be more important than the hardware updates to the two existing iPads.

This is a good point considering Apple did "One More Thing" last year with the Apple Watch, however i don't think Apple would want to announce the Pro at the September event because of taking the attention away from the new iPhones. Also yesterday a report came out saying that Apple are planning to ship the iPad Pro with IOS 9.1 which rules out the iPad Pro being at the September event, also other reports have said that the iPad Pro isn't going into production until September - October time, so it's more likely that Apple will hold an event in October to announce the iPad's along with new Mac's.

Yes, but iPhones and iPads go together. I don't see either the new iPhones or iPads as being particularly exciting this year, at least not justifying two events. IMHO.

Want pro software? Pro app SDK. Problem solved. No disadvantages.

Yea but the iPad Pro will be considered a new device kind of like the iPad mini was and Apple will not want it to upstage the new iPhones, also the new Apple TV is rumoured to be announced at the September event as well. Also taking into account that the recent report has said that the iPad Pro is running IOS 9.1, adding all this together makes it unlikely for the September event. The iPad Pro might be announced at an October event along with new Mac's, that's if the iPad Pro is even ready, personally i hope they do announce it this year because i want one, but only Apple know's.

Yeah, I don't see any iPad announcements coming at the iPhone event - not when they can stretch their news cycle over 2+ months by having a separate event in October. Possibly they could demonstrate a new iPad Pro, but even that seems unlikely because as already stated here, it would greatly overshadow anything new they release on the iPhones.
