I got my replacement in today and the crown on this one also has a little play. It’s not bad and doesn’t move while wearing it, but there’s a little wiggle to it.
My S4 has a tiny bit of play if I go looking for it (not noticeable in normal use or wear), my S3 has the same and it never gave me any issues. Given that and that the crown seems to be working fine, I'm not going to worry about it - that's what the warranty is for!

This is interesting. I felt alot of wiggle on mine, drove to the Apple Store after having the watch for 15 days. They checked it (3 people in the store + 1 technician) and compared it to the watches in the store. They all agreed that mine had more wiggle than the ones in the store. They exchanged it for a new one instantly.

All SS-models have a _SLIGHT_ wiggle, don't ask me why. The issue arises if it's alot of wiggle or not. I was afraid the waterproofing would be an issue if the wiggle was too much, hence why I went to the Apple Store.

Just my two cents.

Strange. My Series 4 Space Black is completely tight on all sides with no side-side to play whatsoever. Must be just a manufacturing tendency that is not consistent throughout the manufacturing process.

Having the same issue as the poster. The wiggle isn't in the plane of the crown. Its side to side like a see saw. If you hold the crown with your thumb and index, try to move the crown like a see saw towards the screen and the rear of the way there is a slight play for me as well. I just got the new watch so I am hoping its normal. I haven't been able to check another S4.

Are slight chips of paint normal wear and tear in the band channels? N6dwlAO.png

Something that slight in damage on your Apple Watch is so minimal, it’s likely you don’t even know how you did it in the first place, and it’s right next to the band port. So I would call that wear & tear versus a defect.

Now instead of the watch you got as new, you now have a refurbished one with the same problem.

Called it.
I'm well aware of Apple's practices and have been given refurbished units in the past, however, I was given a new replacement. Six months later, it's doing great. No issues.
