Thinking of upgrading my watch to a Series 8 from a Series 4. Is the upgrade worth it? I should I wait it out another year??

Also apple only wants to give me $50 for my trade in... any other sites that would give me more? or am I better off privately selling it.

I have a S3 and will likely wait till I see a good black friday deal if I don't end up waiting for the S9. Sadly the watches don't get a lot of resale value. :(

Worth it, or get an Series 7 on sale.

Check Best Buy and other retailers that accept trade-ins. You’ll get a lot more privately selling it though.

My models so far have been:

Series 0
Cellular Series 4
Cellular Series 8

Not spacing them out that way on purpose or anything, that just seems about how long I get out of a battery per model.

My cellular Series 4 was wonderful, and I probably could have squeezed at least part of another year out of the battery, but I decided to stop waiting around and go for it. So the main thing I like about the Series 8 is that it has a fresh battery. :) BUT there are other perks from the upgrade too:

--Bigger screen is noticeable and more useful
--Always on screen is infinitely more useful than having to rotate your wrist just the right way
--I'll always appreciate health sensor updates. I'm not getting any younger.
--Connections to AirPods, cellular signal, wifi, etc. seem to happen instantly now. On my Series 4 I felt like I often had to wait or try multiple times to get my Watch to connect and stay connected to my AirPods.
--Apps and widgets open and refresh much more quickly and reliably.

I think it's worth the upgrade, especially if you find yourself putting the Series 4 on the charger earlier and earlier in the evening lately.

I upgraded to the 8 too in 41mm, since the price difference between the 7 and 8 is not that big and 8 has it in Silver, which is not available Would of considered a SS Series 7 if available refurbished from Apple, but they didn't have any in silver, so I just opted for the 8. I'm coming from a Series 4, which I had since December 2018 and almost had for 4 years.

While it looks mostly the same looks wise, which makes it appear I didn't upgrade, the always on display is nice and the bigger screen. Also, a fresh battery is good as with my 4, it goes down to 20%-10% with minimal usage and my battery health is like 81%. I guess the time is now to upgrade. Didn't opt for SS as the extra $300 isn't worth it since Apple Watches depreciates a lot unlike actual watches. I do want to get the nicer Apple modern buckle band, which will go well with silver aluminum later on.

I'm going to go from the S4 to S8. For me it is worth it. As per my old device. It's getting a new battery and becoming a nice hand-me-down to my mom.

First of all... Please don't trade in your Watch with Apple, their offer is insulting lol. I would sell it elsewhere, keep it as a backup or gift it to someone as it is still a very capable smart watch.

You might be able to find a Series 7 on sale, also check the Apple refurbished store. I feel like the new Series 8 feature is targeted for women unless crash detection is something you would like to have, it also has Bluetooth 5.3. It will be interesting to see if they will add any new features to utilise the temperature sensors, I doubt it :)

I am 100% not upgrading my Series 7 this year, it is still amazing and I love the 45mm screen!!
