Curious how did you test that it was more accurate

I could tell based on the sensitivity during workouts and the shape of the ECG chart. More scientifically, there is a post to a YouTuber earlier in this thread that actually looks at the data for the heart rate sensor.

Difference for me (I posted this earlier, have updated and added more commentary):

- Faster S6 Processor - I don't see a difference 🤷‍♂️
- U1 Ultra Wideband Chip - 🤷‍♂️
- Faster 5Ghz Wifi - Content loads faster 👍
- Faster Charging - 50% in 30 minutes 👍👍
- Longer Battery Life - ~38-40 hours 👍👍

- Blood Oxygen Sensor - very reliable for me 👍
- Improved Heart Rate / ECG Sensors - certainly more accurate 👍
- Always on Altimeter - maybe I'll appreciate it after COVID 🤷‍♂️
- Improved GPS - for outdoor runners...not me 🤷‍♂️

- Brighter Always On Display - It's helpful 👍
- New Case Colors - Blue and Graphite are great 👍
- Slight improved Taptic Engine

Perhaps this wasn't the biggest Apple Watch update... but it's a nice improvement over the S5. Honestly, I think their PR push emphasised the wrong improvements... (especially referring to the S6 and Altimeter).
I too like being able to connect to 5Ghz. I just got my watch 6hrs ago so, it is too early to comment on the rest.

By the way, do you use the Sleep app? If so, is the haptic alarm stronger with the series 6 versus the series 5 or even series 3? I found the haptic alarm very weak with the series 5 using the new Sleep app.

Yep, haptics are slightly but noticeably stronger for the wake up alarm and when getting phone calls. Based on the tear down, it looks like they squeezed a slightly bigger Taptic Engine into the watch so that is likely why.

I appreciate the reply. Looking forward to a new haptic experience tomorrow morning. Thus far, I am thrilled with my new series 6 Graphite. I like the upgrade from the series 5 SB SS.

Just to set expectations, it's not dramatic! I found it noticeable but I could see how others might not notice, especially for people who wear their watches a bit more loose.

Good choice on the Graphite. I'm seriously considering switching from my Blue Alu...

If you hate scratches workout a lot or have a job or hobby that is hands on, a SS model may give you more protection screen and body wise. I love the blue color but, I can’t risk the damage.

He said he lost 9% in a 1:11 h Ride without (!) an iPhone. If I’m right he has the non cellular version, so GPS , AoD etc are not the Problem but cellular and maybe Bluetooth
Nice to hear the heart rate monitor is so accurate compared to chest straps

Today a morning workout. Same setup 1-2/4 signal (95% 2/4 signal) and Bluetooth. 57 min and 20% drop. Around 5-6 % better than yesterday.

You are making me feel bad about not getting my workout in yet 😀.

I'm doing my 3rd full cycle test. Battery is at 79%, 13 hours in (includes a few hours sleeping... which seems to drain at ~1.0-1.2%/hr)

Today will be very stressful so I went in the morning haha. 10 min stairmaster = 1% battery. So I’m sitting at 70% (6 am) battery. Charged it to 100% yesterday 9 pm. Woke up just before 4 am with 94%. Lost 2% on my way to the gym.

I have the 5, Im holding out for next year hoping they release a circular version.

I think the chances of that are similar to getting a round iPhone. The shape and form of the Apple Watch is now synonymous in the smartwatch market with Apple and its very much part of the brand. It’s also easier readying content on a rectangular screen IMO.

Yes. You also can fit more things in a 40mm rectangle than a 40mm circle.

I will really opt for SE; I am using Series 1, served me well and now, will upgrade to SE. Larger display and cooler complications. I live in India, ECG anyways don't work and the blood oxygen - I can get for 15$, don't need to spend so much more money for Series 6.

Technically, I am getting Series 5, just rebadged as SE.

Yep, that’s right... here is what I would expect next year:

Series 3: Phased Out

SE: Remains as is, with new colours (matching the iPhone 13) and straps. In addition, we will see a slight price reduction to bring it closer to where the Series 3 is now.

Series 7:
- New case design, similar to what we see on the iPad and new iPhones (less rounded corners)
- New colors, matching the iPhone Pro 13 line-up
- Larger screen size with microLED
- S7 CPU, based on the A14 chipset
- 15-25% increased battery life (mostly due to improved efficiency, only slight improvement in battery size), depending on how things go, they might talk about “All-Day Battery Life”
-
Slight chance of greater claims on being waterproof (right now it is just “water resistant”)

I'm not sure if I should get it, I love my Series 4 but the battery doesn't last more than 24h... I do heavy weights workout and sometimes I listen to music/podcasts on it.

Oh well.. Series 7 would makes more sense for me tbh

yesterday I started at 8 am, used the AW for notifications and after that 90 min workout with cellular and AirPods Pro. I had 34% at 7:30 pm when I put it back at the charger.

I skipped S5 because my S4 was working great, and individually none of the features were quite enough to justify the expense. I ordered a S6 which arrived today and I love it, but for me that is mainly as a result of going from aluminium to SS. It just looks really great, and I like the slight extra heft which reminds me of the mechanical watch I used to wear before my original S3. The AOD is nice, as is the fact I'm a bit of a data geek and will enjoy interpreting Sp02 trends over time. But it doesn't represent a step change over the S4. The S5 was kind of like a S4+, arguably the S6 is a S4++.

I don't think we can expect radical progress in terms of features from a watch. Slight improvements to connectivity options, speed, the occasional new health / data tracking capability. All very nice to have, don't get me wrong, and I imagine the S7 will perhaps also come with a slight appearance redesign. But I don't think I would be too wide of the mark to suggest that incremental updates will be the name of the game. In many ways the watch has got to a level of refinement remarkably quickly. In the first few iPhone generations the advantages to annual upgrades were stark, but as the technology has matured step changes in progress has slowed and being a few generations behind doesn't mean forgoing all that much for most people. I think this will be all the more pronounced in the watch space.

Wont happen Apple established their own design which everyone knows.

I wouldn’t say that. Apple has changed a lot as a company in terms of features and products they’ve offered that they never ventured into before. The Apple Watch is still very much in its infancy even after five years, and given that they are after ‘dominant market share’, I wouldn’t be surprised if they do offer a round variant in the future, maybe not in 2021, but you can’t say ‘never‘ Knowingly you can’t prove that either. It’s very Much a possibility, even though the square design will always be dominant for certain reasons.

I have the 5, Im holding out for next year hoping they release a circular version.

IMHO it is highly unlikely Apple would release a design that isn't backward compatible with the existing watch band ecosystem.

Seems that would make a round watch rather difficult unless they went to a clownishly large diameter.

... but keep wishing, I may well be wrong. :)
