They are working on some DAM-Software that allegedly can replace Lightroom.
Unfortunately they’ve been saying this for years with no product forthcoming.

Eventually I gave up waiting and moved to On1 RAW, after trying both Lightroom and Capture1. Aperture M1 would be a great idea Apple?

‘Documents with thousands of pixel layers’

Stop it. Nobody does that 😂😝

I've bought basically all their apps for both MacOS and iPadOS.
Never really needed- or used them very much but I saw it a bit as donating to a good cause.
The world really needed a good alternative to Adobes monopoly.

Sadly, Affinity still does not have an Adobe Lightroom equivalent. Still hoping for the future.
Absolutely plus 1 for this.
Capture One is my tool of choice there, and it works well with Affinity Photo. Capture One has one of the best RAW processors and just feels modern. You can do a lot with it that felt like pulling hens teeth on Lightroom.
The problem for me is that lightroom is the only one which works so well across Mac and iPad. Capture one isn’t an option unfortunately. I like it though.

Do you have a link? This has been rumoured for ages yet no official info, in fact the only official stuff I can find insinuates that they aren’t working in one.

So what’s on1 like? Not sure- they seem to send a lot of spam promising stuff that has yet to materialise, especially regarding there lightroom killing cross macos+iOS eco system stuff.

That's good news. Still, for it to be interesting to me it would need to automatically and accurately translate all of the non-destructive edits I've made in LR for each of the photos in my large photo library.
These guys are working on non destructive C1 translations but it's still in beta right now.

The lack of iPad app is quite a big downer for sure.
Adobes system (which I use professionally) and apples own system (which I use for my personal snaps) are the only two that offer this type of integration- aside what on1 is promising but never fulfilling.

What an amazing idea!
Affinity should really go after that one.

On a different note:
How does Affinity Designer fare against InDesign? Does anyone know?
Fairs very well like the rest of the affinity line up it’s pretty feature parallel. I don’t know indesign as well as I know photoshop so I’m not so expert.
Designer is more of an illustrator replacement anyway. You’re probably looking for affinity publisher.

Interesting... Wonder why they didn't start with a Lightroom translation.

Does the C1 translation include a DAM?

Would have been interesting to hear, how fast it ran before the optimization ;)

But 3x faster is crazy. Might be the biggest performance jump on Macbooks ever. And the price didn't change at all.
Download the demo and try it. I did that about four years ago, and it frustrates me no end every time I have to go back to Adobe now. Everything is so much faster, so much smoother, and so much more Mac-like. It feels like software designed for the modern macOS, not like something designed for System 7, ported to Windows, and then ported back again.

I would categorize that under the usual marketing chatter.
I'm sure they got some good support from Apple during development, and the people at Affinity are smart enough to give a little something back.
They probably moved one filter from CPU to GPU and it got a lot faster that way. I even believe them when they say this is due to the shared memory architecure.
Good work nevertheless!
Also, of course, they’ve had iPad versions for a couple of years, so I guess a fair bit of the AS optimisation was already done.

Affinity has always been innovative and quick to be innovative. Their philosophy since day 1 of really optimizing performance for Apple devices, along with no subscriptions, really is so commendable. I can’t wait for the day that I get to try using their products on Apple Silicon Macs.
I bought them on iPad and MacOS to support the premise, however Im having a hard time to some of their workflows.
Everytime I open it to do a simple task as a test, I usually fail... yesterday tried to copy a layer to the alpha channel: photoshop is copy merged, go to channels, set alpha visible, paste, done. On affinity I think you can’t?
Others is of course user error, I still forget all the shortcuts (so different sometimes), to fill a pixels layer with the foreground/background (sometimes I don’t find these pair of colors either) flat color or gradient... pfff, no luck, these actions take 2 seconds, if I have to look around for 1min I’ll close it down.

I do have high hopes, it feels way more responsive. I hope it thrives and I’ll start to watch to tutorials and others in the hopes to finally transition to it.

They seem to have pulled the idea for now.
