Also, if no one has checked out their iPad apps -- They are pretty well done as well! They take some getting used to (finding all the tools and what not) but are fully capable design software.
Tried it. Didn't do anything.Remove it, delete it from the Trash and install again.
I'm wondering if you keep installing the Intel version instead of the version for the M1.Tried it. Didn't do anything.
Apparently, the issue is not related to the M1 Macs. Serif is looking into it. There are a LOT of posts:I'm wondering if you keep installing the Intel version instead of the version for the M1.
Could that be the case?
Not happening to me on my old iMac. I'll check my MacBook later.Apparently, the issue is not related to the M1 Macs. Serif is looking into it. There are a LOT of posts:

Au contraire. I had working software that stopped working because the companies that made it have no financial incentive to fix it. I had a working tool and they changed the definition of "electricity" arbitrarily and that makes me "not interested in what adobe offers"? Please. The curt people telling Adobe to *expletive off are for people that aren't interested in what Adobe offers and Affinity doesn't.
Can I work with Affinity as a professional? Yes, but I don't want to.
They need some sort of sustainable model to pay for the resources required. In before "subscription only" 2.0 release.. which I really hope they don't do.

Sustainable doesn't automatically = subscription. It does mean if 2.0 requires tons of resources, they need to charge you again. It's like 50 bucks for fully featured software. That's a load of BS. It's corporate greed, pure and simple. If it wasn't, they wouldn't remove your ability to use the software the moment you stopped your subscription.
Suddenly decades of software one-time fees is incompatible.. yeah right.
What was wrong with paying for it and being able to use it for as long as you wanted, and being able to skip paid updates if you didn't need those new features? I have no issue paying for a new x.0 version if it's worthwhile for me, but forcing people to paying monthly/annually or lose access is just pure mafiaso tactics. "Eh, nice work you got there.. shame if you couldn't open it anymore".

Not sure why you jumped the gun on that. I was just calling you out on you "2.0, which I hope they dont' do."
I want to see them grow and wouldn't mind paying them a measly 50 bucks to see them go up the next step so there is less feature parity with Adobe.
I've been a customer of desktop publishing, photo editing and graphics in general for a long, long time. From the way I see it, software prices have been going down. That's with subscription or perpetual. Resources required for development have been going up with no end in sight while features have gone up by the folds. If you want a good time and don't remember this, go take a trip down memory lane and look up some software from the late 80s or early 90s and look at the prices. Some are lol expensive for that they do today.I already stated I don't have an issue paying for an update (if it's worth it to me, meaning adds enough value to warrant a upgrade fee).. what I will not do is pay a subscription to use software.
My original post was reflecting on how much software has recently turning subscription based. I've already had to find alternatives to software because I refused to pay a monthly/annual fee, which is why I support Affinity over Adobe.
That being said, if they decide to move to a subscription model, I will drop them like a hot potato, hence the "which I hope they don't do" that you quoted me on.
Best on the marketI love that Affinity are still keeping it old school
- no subscription
- low and fair price (especially now that they have a 50% off sale)
- 90 day free trial
Suppose these people. To hell with Adobe.
I moved from Photoshop CS6 to Affinity and I actually preferred it. Runs so much better than Photoshop which has become incredibly bloated.Best on the market
Slower than lightroom? That’s really slow.I'm using Affinity now. I found that Adobe's Bridge is free, and I use that now to cull through my photos and select the ones I want. Then I just drag them to Affinity (or right click and open with Affinity).
That helps, but it is still a clunky process to follow.
My biggest beef w/ Affinity is how slow it is on my older iMac. I suspect it is probably the age of the iMac, but it's definitely a lot slower than Lightroom.
How old is your iMac? It’s faster than anything from Adobe on my 2015 MacBook Pro.I'm using Affinity now. I found that Adobe's Bridge is free, and I use that now to cull through my photos and select the ones I want. Then I just drag them to Affinity (or right click and open with Affinity).
