Question is (and I think most of us know the answer!)

Do you want to take your 1 or 2 year old Apple Watch in, and get it upgraded, so you get your old watch back, but now it's faster, and perhaps has another couple of sensors.

Or, do you want, and be seen to have the very latest Apple watch, in it's new slimmer? or redesigned case ?

I think it's pretty obvious what the majority would want here :)
If I like the design of a particular model year of Apple Watch? You better believe I'd take the upgraded internals over a design I was less attached to. Plus you're discounting the emotional attachments that people get to their watches.

So yes, plenty of people will want an all-new device. And Apple will try to push people who are undecided on that point over the edge, because it's the nature of the business. But how many people out there have said "I would love to keep the design of my current iPhone, but have all the latest stuff in it"? Lots. Because what these design changes come down to is personal choice, and there are people who will, if given the choice, stick to an outdated design that they like and just upgrade the internals instead of upgrading to a design they don't.

Is it a majority? I don't know. Apple's entering a new market that plays by different rules, and they hired people who know the rules of that market better than they do. So who knows how it'll shake out?

Third-Party Bands

Do you guys think that Apple even allow the creation of third-party bands? And if someone manufacturers and sells them, would it be likely for Apple to shut them down?

Does anybody know how Apple approached third-party accessories when the iPhone / iPad came out?
