I'm on the latest beta and just noticed burn-in as well. I'm not sure when it started but I got my device on release day. Does anyone running the newest non-beta have burn-in?
🙋‍♂️

Running 17.0.3. Had the burn-in/ghosting/image-retention on the previous version too.

It has actually progressed from my initial post. Less hyper-clear on specific apps(like 6-8 initially) and now the whole thing is a muddy mess with static blobs on every app location plus some weird bars. (I'll try and get a photo later and before I hand over the phone).

Just got the email today from my Apple Store that my new replacement phone has arrived. Bit nervous to get a new one and hope there are no issues, similar or different, this time around.

I don't... asked a few times before for something that will work on a Mac. This is a 100% Apple household...

Not worth driving 2 hours each way into my office to check. Might have a SurfaceBook buried in storage somewhere and will try to find that, but don't even know if it still works. Picked it out of a box of throw-aways cause my SO wanted something to use on the "DarkWeb" lol. nothing ever happened there... hahaha

Haha no worries. This is such a Bizzare issue. Hopefully you get a good one from Apple. If the store isn’t helping out, you can always try express replacements through apple care.

according to 3utool, samsung display on my 15PM. Perfect screen so far but do not use AOD at all.

Ok... looooong story short I got an 8 year old Dell XPS with windows 8 running and 3utools installed, and by a miracle found a USB-A to USB-C data cable and I am see everything BUT screen manufacturer anywhere.

Can someone tell me where that is accessible?? I feel blind... this version of 3utools also does not match any videos on YouTube either or even 3utools own site "details" section.

hmm can you screenshot what you see after plugging in device?

there should be a category to view device information

All I can see is included in post above. nothing that looks like display or LG/Samsung. the "hard disk capacity" is way off. only have 670GB free.

Oh wow that looks completely different than what I see when I plug in my phone. It shows on mine the very bottom left but yours stops at vibrator number

Holy Bleepity bleep. so somehow in the time the XPS connected to one of my networks, downloaded and installed 3utools, it stopped getting connection to the internet. Switched to my primary network and BOOM

FREAKING SAMSUNG!!! 7/14/2023 manufacture date on the screen.

Why does it not surprise me that a 💩 screen was made by Samsung instead of LG.

Haha thats what I thought. SO MANY people were saying on Reddit and here that the bad screens were LG. Yet no one provided proof.

Oh wow. I just noticed I have this when watching a movie that had a pretty dark scene. It’s like a line the same width of the dynamic island running either side of the dynamic island. The left side is slightly more visible than the right - not extreme but would be really curious to know what it is.
Exactly like you said. Left side is slightly more visible on the 15 Pro, I don’t know about Max. But both 14 Pro and 14PM, that I have seen, have it more noticeable on the right side. My assumption is that it may somehow be related to screen manufacturing process, but this is just a guess.

On 3uTools click on “Verification Report” to see screen manufacturer and date of manufacture.

Just out of curiosity. With what Letters does your Screen Serial start? G3N, G3P or something similar.

It's showing app icons, which you'd have to try to keep the phone on to a home page in order to even show beyond a few seconds. And there is absolutely no way it can physically be burn in in such short time.

It's either an image retention issue, software bug, fault in the video driver, or something else. It's absolutely something to exchange for, but it's not burn in and people shouldn't be jumping to such a conclusion and freaking everybody else out.
I’m thinking about the same. In all cases I’ve seen it’s Home Screen. But who stares at the Home Screen more than in other places?

I imagine it should have static images. Like battery icon, instagram logo in app, keyboard, and other static stuff.

Wonder if folks did a reset to the phone and how it looks after

My 15 Pro, Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 (last 2 obvs) all have Samsung screens and all are truly perfect. It seems to be predominantly the 15 Pro Max that has this issue?

Samsung manufacturers these screen to Apples sub pixel design and spec so if duff screens are getting through (which they clearly are) is this Samsung or Apples fault?

Apple don’t actually make anything really…….is all outsourced to Foxconn, Quanta et al so unsurprisingly their QC blows (in my 20+ years Apple product experience).

I have had far better and more consistent screen and build quality with Samsung’s own phones because they actually make the majority of the device and assemble it themselves.

I always find it funny when people blame the component manufacturer for screen issues……Apple is knowingly allowing sub standard build and screen quality in the knowledge most people will neither notice or care.

I really hope your replacement is a good unit, that screen is absolutely hideous!

Just my 10p worth.

This is silly. You likely had a Samsung on some of your other iPhones, especially the 14.

"This was never an issue on my X, 11 Pro, 13 Pro or 14 Pro OLED screens"

Sometimes hardware is faulty. That's a fact. No one has a 0% failure rate.

OLEDs have a chance of burn in, however, it's very very very minimal compared to 4 years ago LG got made fun of for putting their TVs in all the USA airports then having burn in still after a few weeks of running the screens (a few years ago but not many).

They've both mitigated the burn in issue for almost everything now.

It can happen. Don't fret, Apple owes you a new device.
