its the best of both worlds

i couldn't stand the loss of clarity + sparkles with the anti glare shields

give it a shot you'll love it

I saw the thread about the wax but I'm not sure how I feel about putting wax on my screen protector. My niece plays with my phone all the time and I don't want her touching wax and then eating (don't really want to be touching it myself either). Maybe it's harmless but I just don't know.

I hate to say it but I've had my Ultra Oleophobic on for maybe 3 weeks or now and it's really becoming more of a fingerprint magnet every day. To make matters even worse, it's getting harder and harder to clean them off too (they just kind of smear around). I don't want to do it but I think I'm going to have to try one of my PS Anti-Glares. I know it's going to kill the retina display but these fingerprints are doing a pretty good job of that already. If I hate it I can always take it off but these fingerprints and smudges are driving me crazy:mad:.

I too got sick of the Oleo SGP, however crystal clear it may be. Seemed to get worse with time, and wiping it clean seemed harder and harder. Tried the wax trick, but didn't really work for me. I'm no greasier than the next guy, but putting ur finger on the SGP Oleo-covered phone after a 10 min conversation in 90 deg weather......it's like rubbing ur finger in butter on a plate. And when the phone is off, it looks nasty. Seems germy too.

I have used AntiGlare PS on all my other iPhones. So I pulled off the SGP Oleo and put the AG on. It does mute the retina display some, no question about it. But it's not so bad to me. People here say "the AG ruins the retina display"; whatever. perception is reality - to me it does not "ruin" it. I'm going to try to live with it a few weeks and see if I can adapt and be satisfied. At the moment I'm really appreciating the smooth gliding finger action and lack of cheek-cheese that the AntiGlare provides. Oh and it reduces glare too ;)

All this BS and $$ just to avoid an unlikely scratch on my screen. Wish I didn't care.

I'll give carnuba wax a try and see if it works as well as NXT

NXT is synthetic so its probably not safe to eat

Carnuba wax is 100% natural ( from the coating of leaves), so its pretty much like eating beeswax ( not good for you but not harmful)

Dry install was horrible for me, and the dry install was even worse. Ruined both my protectors. Glad it was bought on Amazon credit.

Glad to see my thread was brought back from the dead!

On a side note, I am totally with the dudes who say the Oleo is getting harder and harder to clean. I'm at the point now where if I don't bring a cloth with me everywhere I go, the grease piles up to where it obstructs e function of the touch screen (areas don't respond on the first touch.)

I think I'm going to go home and either try the PS Anti glare I bought a while back or put back on the PS crystal because that was still a finger print magnet but at least nothing built up on it.

I am Italian though, so maybe I really am a little too extra greasy :(

I did dry install with zero dust. You guys really suck at installing screen. No finger prints either and easy to wipe off.

I'm using a PS Anti-Glare now. While I do miss the clarity of the Oleo, I do not miss the fingerprints and grease. Even when the AG picks up some grease, it's really easy to clean it off. I have a pack of PS Crystals coming as well but I'm not sure if I'm going to try one right away. I guess it all depends on how long I can deal with the AG. Right now it's not really bothering me that it's not as clear as the Oleo, and I really love how there's no friction between my fingers and the screen protector.

Ignorance at its best. Apparently we should bow down and learn from you since you're the only one who can do good installs...

Just wait 3-4 weeks then you'll see what kind of fingerprints and oil the Oleo accumulates and just how easy they are to wipe off

I have a PS Anti-glare on mine, and honestly, the loss of clarity was hardly an issue, and now I'm just used to it. It didn't really take away from the retina at all for me. I even took it off and put a Invisible Shield on it. I went back to the PS because I just couldn't take the finger prints anymore...

I agree. I had a zagg on mine and the PS anti-glare looks and feels great. The loss of clarity is not really an issue and i am used to it. I mean...I hear the Oleo is great for like a week and people get fed up with the fingerprints. What good is preserving the clarity of the screen with the Oleo if the screen is covered with fingerprints. That, and I also heard it does get harder to wipe the fingerprints off after a while and it does seem to get scratches. PS anti glare all the way

Yeah I'm about to throw on the PS Anti-Glare right now for S's and Giggles.

When I first got the phone I was beyond obsessive about keeping it spotless, now I just want to treat it like a phone and I think the PS Anti-Glare will help with that.

Yes you should...:D

I like the OLE a lot. But yes once you get a greasy finger on the protector its near impossible to clean. You have to use a cloth to get it back to normal. It doesn't bother me though.

Sitting in an operating recovery room right now

Had to get my appendix removed Sunday haha

crazy week

but as soon as I get home promise to test out the carnuba wax

Are you guys eating KFC daily or what? I've had Oleo for almost two weeks, I get finger prints here and there but it's not that hard to clean.

Give it some more time. Eventually it'll get really tough to clean. I used to be able to clean mine by just breathing on it and wiping it on my shirt but that stopped being the case after a few weeks.

I hope not. That means Oleo coating is wearing off. hmmm...not good.

Yes, the coating does indeed wear off after a few weeks. Due to other circumstances, I had to remove the first Oleo I was using (had it on for about three weeks). That protector was picking up everything like crazy and just smudging instead of removing when wiped down. I have now put on a second Oleo protector and it works great, not picking up much of anything. But I know that in a few weeks it's going to have lost most of the preventative properties it has now.

Just a quick question guys....

I have some dust on the adhesive side of the screen protector due to a poor installation. If I am going to use the wet install method how do I remove the dust? Will dropping the screen protector into the water+soap be enough?

That's what I had to do and it only removed some of the dust, not all of it. So I'd also be interested to know what the best procedure is for something like this.

So..what about the rest of the dust?

Whatever dust was still on the adhesive I attempted to remove with a dust removal sticker. It got rid of some of the dust but I couldn't get rid of it all so there's still some imperfect spots here and there. I'm just dealing with it as is and may take it off in favor of an anti-fingerprint protector I have lying around.

Back home on Vicodin ( weeee)

sad to report that caranuba wax does not work as well as synthetic wax

It left more of a film/greasy feel to the screen.

I recently replaced my Oleophobic shield

second shield did not go on as smooth ( lots of dust underneath)

but I can confirm, that even on a brand new shield, NXT 2.0 wax helps keep fingerprints off + slicker surface

Thanks for the update. Hope you're feeling better.

Pretty happy with PS AG for now anyway - it's nice to not have to wipe down my screen all the time. I may try my PS Crystal at some point too but not having a crystal clear screen isn't exactly the end of the world for me.
