The mac mini is supposed to replace a dell xps 13l for HBO, but somehow that wont work with Mojave.
probably a java script something Or partition Catalina or cancelHBO.

Mostly older gear, but it's really all I need...

Living Room: older Sony Bravia 46" LCD TV, Apple TV-HD (ATV4), couple of mis-matched 5" studio monitors (from two sets that each had one burnout, LOL)

Bedroom: 19" Insignia LCD TV on VESA mounting arm in cubby hole next to the bed, Apple TV-HD (ATV4),

Media Server: 2014 2.8ghz dual-core i5 Mini running iTunes/homesharing under Mojave with about 600 movies and 600 TV shows on a 4tb SSD.

FIOS 400/400 internet, gigabit ethernet LAN

I use a 4k ATV in my lounge and office, but all of my many other ATVs (about 10 in total) have been retired as the App works well enough for my other TVs and my parents home.

  • ATV 4K 64G
  • SiliconDust HDHomeRun (no cable, antenna only)
  • Channels app to use HDHomeRun as source on the ATV
  • Dell 4K monitor
  • HomePod Mini stereo pair for sound
No messing with multiple remotes or fighting "smart" TV stuff.

You do realize that hbo is on Apple TV, right? you don’t need the mac mini.

not anymore, and everything vanished, like MLB, NHL et. on the TV3.
i get crackle!

would erasing the current fossil os, and installing the original one get those stations?
(besides finding out the hard way)

ATV hidden away somewhere behind all that other equipment. Controlled by URC Total Control and/or Roomie Remote. Distributed throughout the house via Yamaha RX-A6A.

Theater (recently rebuilt - just got rid of a projector setup and replaced all of the equipment):

15’x17’ room 9.5’ ceiling.

ATV 4K
LG C1 OLED (83”) we used to sit 12’ from 100” screen, now at 9 1/2’ and it looks bigger - nice trade off.
Anthem MRX 1140 (7.2.4 configuration)
Klipsch Reference Premiere (8060FA x4, 8000F x2, RP-504c, SPL-120 x2)
Panasonic UB9000 for BDs

4 Seatcraft Diamanté seats with SoundShakers (curved row), had two rows of 3, but rarely used more than 4 seats.

Rotated the room so the OLED is on the 17’ wall….Pure Audio Nirvana. Speaker placement in this configuration is optimal for this size of a room and it’s fantastic. OLED is a better display for the ATV vs a projector, plus it added Dolby Vision capability for it and the BD player which a projector can’t do.

Family Room:

ATV 4K
LG C1 (77”)
Bose 900 Soundbar with Sub

No place for surrounds, but the up-firing speakers add some nice effects. We call it Atmos sort of.?

Bedrooms (x3):

ATV 4K
LG C1 (48”)
Bose 300 Soundbar with Sub

Atmos in a bedroom would be a bit much.?

Who needs a movie theater anymore?
