Why can’t we have color changing day/night wallpapers again. Why did they take them away from us? What was the reason?

Are you referring to the light/dark mode options for wallpapers? If so, I have no clue why they thought it necessary to remove that. I never used it, as I stay on dark mode and edit my wallpapers accordingly. I can see how that would be frustrating for you. It seems like they could add the light/dark options at the bottom where it says Natural. Or even to the side along with depth effect. Ask for it. Send feedback. They do read the feedback.

They also removed the ‘Dark appearance dims wallpaper’ feature.

You can do this using focus.

Set up a daytime focus with a light wallpaper, and a nighttime focus with dark wallpaper. You can set the time at which the device shifts focus.. You may want to alter that as day length changes. Or else someone cleverer than I may be able to tell you how to link the shift to sunset and sunrise in a weather app.

I believe you can do that in shortcuts automations. I’ll try it and see how it works. (I’m finding automations based on sunrise/sunset variables somewhat flaky in the betas)
