IGZO screen, screen flush with the bezel (shaving off a few mm to make the 5S even thinner), fingerprint sensor, better camera, new features of iOS...that's enough for me to upgrade.

I really don't know what people like you are looking for.

S2 -> S3 = bigger screen, LTE. People freak out and get all happy about how innovative Samsung is.
4S -> 5 = bigger screen, LTE. People complain it's more of the same and Apple is slagging behind.

fuel cell battery
holographic display
To storage
...
innovation and spec bumps are two different things

What's weird is.. Why would *they start* production of the screen if there aren't changes to it? Doesn't add up... Meaning if in fact it's an "S" wouldn't the 5's panels be just fine? Just sayin

Might be a different screen but the same size to fit into the same iPhone case as the 5.

I want a 5s with microwave and jacuzzi........:D

I disagree with your sentiment, I think that would be a really useful feature.

Agree, but will it be in the home-button (e.g. replacing the home button) or somewhere else?

Ive been an annual upgrader of the iPhone since the early days. However, at last Ive seen the light. Every two years is fine now with both iPhones and iPads. there just arent enough improvements to justify the spend. iPhone 5 was the biggest waste of money yet for me

I've been upgrading every 2nd time (original -> 3GS -> 4S), partly for the reason you describe and partly because of AT&T's contract/subsidy cycle. This time around, I don't care so much about an improved camera or faster processor, but the fingerprint sensor could be very helpful. I have to enter an 8 character password every time I activate my iPhone and this could be much better if done right.

so let me know if i understand correctly: now with finger print sensor, a thief if he wants my iPhone now he must cut my finger too?

... the company has a number of surprises coming during the fall and beyond.

Unless it's a Hoverboard, I'm just not that interested.

Can we get rid of the physical home button already? It seems like enough people have problems with it that it should been changed by now.

this this this, i HATE the home button so freakin much ever since the first iPhone. I just recently lost my jailbreak and god how i miss Zephyr.

pushing that stupid button for every little thing is annoying especially when it stops working (this happened on 3 iPhone 4 of mine but so far it seems to be fixed on the iPhone 4S/5)

So...first oneS will be for July..but maybe will be just announced with mini retina and on sold for FALL

Oh Kuo! Not this guy again. But good for him the closer we get to September the more opportunity he has to be right!

They should do a major upgrade from 5.x to 6.x annually and every 6 months do the "S" updates.

Yes, throw up some fairy dust and KAPOW! All-New iPhones.

Seriously, Apple has a hard time doing major updates every two years (sometimes not even getting those phones perfect at launch and you expect them to accelerate that schedule? Even Jobs himself wasn't that ambitious because he understood the implications.

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. I would think the yield for the 5's panel is already robust enough where new orders isn't necessary, but simply an increase of an existing order or an increased ramp-up, so to speak. If there's an all-new order, the panel is different, at least in my thinking...

Also, you all know that the "S" in these cycles always stood for something internally at Apple ("Speed" for 3GS, "Siri" for 4S)...what if the S in 5S is for "Screen?" Just some food for thought..

Wow, an updated camera and fingerprint sensor. Apple is really reaching for the future (yawn).

What's more beneficial to customers? A better camera and security enhancements or the ability to swipe your finger above your screen to unlock it?

I'll take the camera and the security over the Samsung gimmick.

What else is there, it's a phone...

Where is most peoples phones, most of the time?

Along these lines, I can't agree more. It's a phone that also has the ability to do a lot of other things. BUT... beyond watching a quick 1-2 min video, I don't see watching a movie on my phone... too small... even at 6 inches, it's too small, you really can't see anything and too hard on the eyes. I can't see typing a letter on it. It's great for looking up things, or checking information, but I don't do extensive research on my phone. The maps are useful when I'm out and about... etc....

Anyway... my point being... I want my phone device to be small, portable, fast is always good, and make damn good calls. If Apple wants to rock the world, just keep working on improving the phone calling experience... better sound, better reception... better noise reduction... etc... that would make me the happiest.

Oh... the fingerprint security... I don't think that's bad. If it's quick and reliable, I'd use it. Better then typing in a security PIN.

cant wait for the introduction of the fingerprint sensor and how apple has invented this and bla bla bla magical yada yada yada it just works.

And then we'll see those iSheep applauding and screaming in the conference hall all amazed about this new technology...

I understand your sentiment, but you know the truth. If and when Apple embraces fingerprint and possibly with NFC; both technologies already out there, developers will clap, and those millions of iphone users will embrace. The retail industry will scramble to catch up to those who already have NFC POS and Apple will once again steal the show. I remember a device called an iPod. I hated the thought that Apple proliferated the mp3 player and iTunes, but other players out there just weren't as good.

I always look forward to how Apple will improve upon something that has been out in the wild for many years, and the public will embrace it as something they couldn't get along without.

fingerprint

I'm actually a bit surprised that the fingerprint sensor is - rumored - to be shipping in the 5S. It seems like a pretty significant hardware change that would be more appropriate for shipping in an all new hardware design. But then again, what the hell do I know?

So are Apple's. ;) In fact, if you look closely, you'll see a few in this thread. Shhh don't mention "Google" or "Samsung" that gets them mad.

Maybe.... but this is not Google's or Samsungs forum, right?
Question is.... how entertainin do Apple haters find this forum to waste their precius time trolling? Seriously.... some people!!
