Here is the video of my phone after 1 day. My 4 year old daughter dropped it about 2-3 feet and it shattered the back. FYI, Apple is replacing the phone this time as a one time thing they told me on the phone. She got me to a senior tech and she felt so bad that they offered a replacment free.

Don't give your 4 year old daughter access to expensive electronics?

Yea, it was a rule that they weren't suppose to touch the iphone till the bumpers came in on order (Apple ran out at the store). But you turn your head for 2 seconds and she picked it up off the coffee table.

Yeah, because they bring nothing to your life. : /

There was a time when I wanted kids a couple years ago when I met the right woman and things were perfect in our lives but things change, people change.

Perhaps in the future I will have the opportunity to make my son/daughter an Apple fanboy/girl! But for now I'll stick to being selfish. :p

Ouch. At least they are sending you a replacement. I'm terrified of dropping mine. Plastic absorbs impact a lot better than metal. While the new phone looks cool, the metal rim may not have been the best choice.

Thats good that you are getting it replaced for free.
Anyway I was thinking, Since you are getting it replaced for sure how about do some scratch test on the front and back of the phone for us and record it? :D

+1.

If you have children, good for you, but not for me.

****, I'd get so impatient with my child: "You stupid idiot, why cant you play the piano? Holy ****ing **** it is so easy! Get out of my sight, just... GO TO YOUR ROOM!!"

Na, but I wouldnt get any girl pregnant.

What's weird is I let my younger step cousins, and mom's friend's kids play with my 3GS and they range from like 4-12 years old and they NEVER drop it.

However I've dropped mine 6 times...No case or anything on it too and it is still surviving. Never dropped it on concrete, but dropped it on floor tiles, hardwood, dirt and even snow. Somehow it is still scratch free.

I still dont understand why people do not get Squaretrade insurance on there iPhones....Even more with having little ones around the house...I ordered squretrade before i even had the phone in my hands.

A phone made of all glass? yeah YOU need insurance...

I dont care what Apple says or what ANYONE says, Its made of all glass, you drop it and it WILL break!

I figured I would throw my experience into the hat as far as the shattered phone situation goes.

Last night, after owning my phone for about 12 hours, it took a faithful leap from my kitchen counter onto my linoleum floor. I didn't even see it happen but saw the look on my friends face when I heard something fall. Looked down and the phone was demolished.

After reading the stories on Gizmodo (http://gizmodo.com/5573163/i-had-my-shattered-iphone-replaced-by-apple-on-day-2 & http://gizmodo.com/5573009/apple-replaces-some-shattered-iphone-4s-what-about-yours) I had some hope that they would replace my phone as the high grade glass they've been preaching about obviously did not do it's job. I did not have the option to purchase a bumper or case for the phone as they were sold out at the Apple store when I purchased my phone.

The new phone does seem to slip and slide on/off surfaces easier than any of the other old iPhones.

Today I went to the Genius Bar to see what they could do to help me. All they could do was offer me another iPhone they had in stock as a replacement for the price of $199.99.

The whole situation is quite disappointing as you would expect the new *glass* to either hold up or that there to be cases/bumpers in stock to purchase.

So it doesn't look like they'll be giving out any more free replacement phones for those of us that have any type of mishap.

This is another reason why I am not having children :)

thats just sad, if I didn't have my son my life would feel really pathetic, but I would have gadgets, ya know what I get gadgets now and I have a 4 year old son, he loves watching videos on my iPad, I told my wife next tear when they have the next generation we buy 2 one for her and one for me and give the old one to our son so he can get used to using computers at a young age.

Our 20 months and almost 4 year old kids have played with our 3GS many times and never dropped them.

Not dropping something is a learned behavior. If you never allow your infant to touch things, he/she is more likely to drop them. A lot of parents are overprotective that way.

I would go higher than the store level if I were you. Try calling Apple and speak to a supervisor.
