I would go higher than the store level if I were you. Try calling Apple and speak to a supervisor.

I sent an Email to Jobs. I'm going to give him a chance to possibly respond. Pretty much saying word for word what I said in the post.

We'll go from there. I'm not trying to be a complete dick about it as they didn't do anything wrong (technically). But still... I'm sure most can understand where I'm coming from.

Yikes, all these stories of shattered glass are scary. I've ordered a slim-fit case, but I might just take the hit to my wallet and pick up a CandyShell (that rubber interior looks nice for shock absorption). Don't know :/

If someone bought a CandyShell for the last three iPhones, that's over $100 in expenses and over half of what it costs to replace a shattered iPhone through Apple.

+1.

If you have children, good for you, but not for me.

****, I'd get so impatient with my child: "You stupid idiot, why cant you play the piano? Holy ****ing **** it is so easy! Get out of my sight, just... GO TO YOUR ROOM!!"

Na, but I wouldnt get any girl pregnant.

I admit I got mad at these comments, but then I thought "good for them" in a nice way. So many people have kids who shouldn't. At least you know what you want and probably want to do things in life before you change your mind. Kids aren't for everyone, and some people should never have kids.
I love my daughter, she is my life. She brings me happiness and we are both learning from each other.

To the OP. I hope you went easy on the kid. We all try to keep expensive things out of reach, but we are all human and will make mistakes.

Everyone else. Again we are all human, we all mess up. On the internet some will admit it, and some will never admit they do wrong. I think it was cool that Apple replaced it for you. It's great customer service and they know you will probably spend more money at their store.

I guess this is why you need to make sure expensive equipment is out of reach if you have kids.

:(

The new Iphone looks like it's made really well, just don't drop it. or put your finger on the left side of the phone. And no worries. The yellow lines or blotches on the screen don't effect the phones performance, and I hear the phone scratches easy, keep your finger nails cut short and don't put the phone in your pocket or lay it down on a hard service like a table and it won't scratch. get an Iphone bumper it's a must for this well made device. or get a 3GS no issues with mine.

thats just sad, if I didn't have my son my life would feel really pathetic, but I would have gadgets, ya know what I get gadgets now and I have a 4 year old son, he loves watching videos on my iPad, I told my wife next tear when they have the next generation we buy 2 one for her and one for me and give the old one to our son so he can get used to using computers at a young age.
Do you have a child on board sticker on your minivan?? ;)

Why does everyone seem to think this situation would have never happened any other time if only the kid wouldn't have gotten hold of it? People drop things, it's life...I'm sure there are quite a few people on here who have accidentally dropped their phones. It doesn't make someone careless, it's not like we throw them on the ground on purpose. Things happen.

If you think about it though, the fact that this glass "30 times harder than plastic" is breaking so easily is simple science. Take a bat to a glass bottle and a plastic bottle. Which one do you think is going to shatter? Oh yeah, the harder one. There is so much stress put on the atoms of the glass, they have no room for shock absorption such as the old plastic backs did, resulting in a surface much much easier to shatter.

Case and point? S*it happens and people drop things and a guy shouldn't be jumped on because it happened, it's not his fault that the iPhone 4 is such a fragile "strong" product. Don't get me wrong, I will own an iP4 as soon as they come in stock:apple:, but jeesh...it was an accident. If anything this person is helping other users to know this thing is FRAGILE and to treat it very, very carefully. Thank you OP, now when I get mine I will know better.

It cracked after a 2-3 foot drop?

So much for "...two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever."

No, but I would on my Lambo if it wouldn't look so bad...Not everyone with kids has to make huge sacrifices. My wife and I still have our toys (my LP560-4 and her new 7 series). We have a full size SUV for the family outings. No minivans here...but we would if we needed one.

People that don't like kids shouldn't have them...have a nice life when you're old and feel empty. If you're that selfish you did the kids a favor. Bet your childhoods were just wonderful...

+1 Well said...I look forward to when these morons who dislike children drop their phones and it shatters. What goes around comes around...

I've had my iPhone 4 in an iPhone 3G silicone case since the day it came in. It's not a perfect fit, but pretty damn close. There is only a little slop behind the phone since the iPhone 4 is thinner. I used a hobby knife (with the phone out obviously) to open the camera hole to accommodate the flash.

I'm waiting for Apple to address the antenna issue before I decide on which case to get.

Sure you do, how about some pictures big shooter:rolleyes:

I liked George Carlin's view of some parents and their kids

****, this is scary. My friend punched me yesterday with my phone in my hand and it slipped out but I was standing in dirt. There is a small nick on the back. I feel like the first time any of us drop our iP4s onto a hard surface, it's over.

My 2 year old knows how to unlock the iphone and loves playing around on it.

I usually let him mess with it for 10-20 mins before I redirect him. He knows it's "dad's toy" and is careful with it. He probably has dropped it less than I have but the case does it's job.

I neer thought I would have kids, and actually thought I was sterile. Then at 23 my GF became pregnant and I was scared. Really scared.

Over 2 years (if you count the pregnancy) later and I know that my emotions, ambitions, and gratitude would have never been fulfilled without him. Zion Phoenix is the most rewarding and perfect entity I have ever had a part in creating.

If he would drop and break my phone, I would sell it on ebay and buy another one. No big deal. Not sweating the small stuff is essential to my happiness.

Glad your getting a free one.

Gutted :(

Tonight I let a friend have a look at my new iPhone....and about 15 seconds of holding it he managed to drop it onto a concrete floor

I hoped for the best, but picked it up and found the screen shattered

So glad I took out the the insurance with Vodafone! Just hope they have the phones or parts in stock to replace it with quickly.

I queued to get it on Thursday morning and my number hadn't even ported over yet, so I hadn't even used it as a phone...gutted, really gutted.

So don't let your kids or your 28 year old friends near your precious iPhone!

I guess I'll have to make do with the slow 3G for a while longer.

Thats nice Apple will replace for free

I myself don't like for people to even hold my phone, today at work a girl wanted to take the case off to look at it, I said HELL NO, told her to go to the Apple Store if she wants to see what 1 in person looks like.
