Do you mean a classic razor like the one I use?

absolutely. DE = Double Edge or as you like to call it..'classic razor'

i heard its very sharp and gives a very close shave but it has no angle, apply some pressure and you cut your skin but i know theres loadsa people using them they switched from modern multi blade to the classic bcoz multi-blades are very pricey.

I know people like sensor excel, but this is my 2nd try with a three blade sensor excel - its crap! does not give a close shave at all. Its just same as any old disposable razor.

My face cuts very easy. I can't use cheap disposables because of it, and I can't use the 56894565 blade razors because of it. So far I've found the Mach3 to cut me the least.

I'd like to try the DE razors. Classy.

it seems that the 4 blades on my razor might be a little too much. i cut my leg and it bled pretty badly.
Now if you had me as your boyfriend, not only would I get you a BandAid, but I would also enjoy sucking the blood out of your leg and swallowing it ... yummy.

I think I cut myself more often when cleaning/changing the blades than actually shaving.

Another advantage: The time for a shave is pretty much independent from the length of the hair. One day or one week without shaving... I don't care... it will take me in both cases less than a minute to shave.

You also don't need plastic surgery, this razor can make* you face very even :D

* might be very painful though

if you hold the razor in the correct angle and if the blade is still sharp enough.

One blade lasts around a month and costs less than £ 0.50.

Thats it! what IS the correct angle? disposables and cartridges already have a fixed angle which they did with the design of the handle so you just stick and push the razor in your face and scrape as hard as you can (for me anyways)

The disposables last me around a month or more i would say thats coz i dont have to shave so frequently, only once or twice a week.

So, how do you shave with the classic? Do you put the razor parrallel to the face with the handle facing straight down towards the floor while holding the razor/blader in the same angle or position and start pulling down?

I heard there is also a 30 degree angle. What is 30 degree angle like? is it you just tilt it slightly and scrape and if doesnt you tilt it more?

for my leg's i tried useing BIC razors and they played all hell with my left and I got ingrowing hairs which i had to coax out, my right was fine, I also tried useing a venus ages ago and that was almost the same and I had to stop half way through, I've beenuseing bic's but only out of lack of money, I should really get a mach 3 turbo if they are as good as everyone says they are.

Are you saying the skin on your face cuts easily or the stubble?

Yesterday was my 2nd shave with the sensor excel, crap! It doesnt cut stubble properly, same as a disposable. Basically, i had been sticking 3-blade razor hard in to my face and scraping hard as well to get a BBS shave. Although completely after the shave in the mirror it looks BBS, on closer inspection you can see its not BBS clean (you can see the stubble). The upper lip area which is hard to clean had to scrape very hard and i only got one patch in excellent condition.
Overall, 4 or 5 passses with the 3-blade, wanted to do more but afraid or razor burn and razor bumps.

My next move is to try the Mach3. I heard its extremely sharp and you have to be very careful with it - hope it cuts my stubble or else if 3 blades dont cut i donno about 4 or 5 blades i might go down the Wilkinson Sword route.

btw, what is a 56894565 blade razor ?

are you using bic classic, the ones with orange/white handles? i know they can mess up the face, have you tried bic sensitive? it should be ok. Shaving with even slight pressure on a sensitive part of the body with a one-blade disposable of poor quality can be trouble but if you've tried venus then what about Veet?
no shaving or scaping, simply apply and peel, no pain at all!

I believe that's called sarcasm, mocking the trend of razor manufacturers to squeeze ever more blades into a small space.

oic, i thought it was a serial number/code for a unbranded razor blade.

They're overrated if you ask me. Just a thin strip of moisturiser and its good, not something as huge as the other ones.

I looked at one in sainsburys, appealing colour from a distance, the handles are huge, blades are small - doesnt feel manly.

I use the Fusion 5+1 with VIBRATION!

I'm such a geek.

Actually, it does an excellent job, and the blads last for-EVER!

And now, a story the shaving-the-chest conversation brings to mind.

I knew a fellow who related a story to me about a cadre of guys who shaved their chest with straight razors. Anyway, one is apparently supposed to put fingers on the nipple with the opposing hand.

One fellow didn't and ZOPP! Shaved his nipple clean off.

I haven't complained about my face bleeding since hearing this...

How many passes do you make with the fusion 6 blade (5+1) and what about against the grain pass? :D and doesnt it give you any irritation, razor burn, razor bumps etc?

The guy with the shaved nipple might be able to grow a new one, stick one on like 007 sean connery did in his movie or become the first razor-modified man (as opposed to gentically modified) to be with 1-nipple.

Doesnt really matter does it, do men have nipples for any purpose?! :D

I've never bothered to measure the angle.

I think first time you start holding the razor in a 90 degree angle (angle between handle and skin), means the blade is parallel to the skin. The top (wings) are roundish, so then you change the angle until the blade touches the skin and off you go. By the look of it you have to change from the 90 degree position by about 45 or more degrees.

I would call it intuitive. You can feel the angle isn't right (it's also marked blood-ish red :) ) or the blade isn't sharp anymore (feels like ripping out the hair instead of cutting them).

Okay, this is it... I am off to China and North Korea now :D

BIC classic sensitive, never tried veet, I'm pretty dead set on trying a mach 3 turbo, i'll give one a go, although I'd feel a little silly buying it, like buying a "supermegahypertron with automatic pumping action"

does that foam thing work where you use this foam stuff and thei's no blade just like a "sharp" plastic thingy. The ad shows a girl like doing zig zags on her legs...

I use a Gillette Fusion 5+1 and gel. Works fine, nice smooth shave. My dad is jealous with his sissy little 3 blader. :p

It's not the razor...

It's the shaving cream/gel.

I can use pretty much any razor (although I prefer my Mach 3, mostly because I have a massive stock o' blades purchased from Sam's a while back when they were on sale or something) so long as I have the right shaving gel. Gel designed for "sensitive" faces, preferably with Aloe, almost always does the job for me - no cuts, no major irritation, no problems so long as you lather enough of that on there and shave carefully.

Also - and this is obviously for the men folk - a good aftershave really does wonders. I use some Bath and Body Works stuff my wife purchased for me a while back and I've stuck with. $5 is generally enough to last 2-3 months.

so i had a bit of a mishap yesterday in the tub when i was shaving my legs. it seems that the 4 blades on my razor might be a little too much. i cut my leg and it bled pretty badly.

what kinda razor do you have? do you buy into the "50 blades + 1" razors that are coming out today? do you think they actually work better? or is it a scam?

To be honest - i found i got a closer shave with the $0.50 bic razors than i do with the venus.

is it just me?
Never thought I would discuss my razor in a forum but what the hell.
I have only been cut once by my venus. It is just the standard venus divine nothing that vibrates or talks to me. I cut the skin by my ankle bone once because I was in a hurry. I've tried others and they either cut or burn. The bic razors have always scared me because I think I started with those and they cut the skin on the shin bone. So yeah I use the venus and no I don't buy the latest fad. First, it is expensive, second it never works in my favor. I don't use cream much either, maybe twice a week. Usually it's just water.
