I never believed the shaving in the shower thing but tried it for the first time last week and I don't reckon I'll be able to go back to creams/foams etc. Te only problem is I don't have a mirror in the shower so I have to do it all by touch.

Hmm, I shave in the shower but I still use some kind of shaving cream/gel/foam etc. I don't use a mirror though, I think I've just gotten used to doing it by touch to check if I've missed anywhere.

I'm in the military and have to go with the grain or else i'll have a 5'oclock shadow 2 hours after I shave. Skin got used to it after a few years :)

I think it is so much easier to just use an electric razor, because it makes it impossible to cut yourself and you don't need shaving foam.

Depends what kind of mood I'm in. If I'm in a hurry or don't want to shave I shave with the grain, always with gel.

If I'm feeling okay with the whole shaving thing I shave with the grain and then against the grain. And then I shave sideways in both directions on my chin, figuring I may as well hit those little hairs from every damn direction! :)

In the shower, with and against, no mirror, gel and I still look 15 years younger than I am (so I'm told). Never cut myslf or get ingrowns and I have a thick beard. Don't bother with smelly stuff afterwards, it just attracts bugs.

Alright, 10 years:rolleyes:

Ouch!!!

I shave against the grain. If I want a really good shave I'll do it twice after having left it to grow for a couple of days. I shave in the shower without a mirror. I guess the warm air opens up my pores or something because I hardly ever cut myself, once in a blue moon, at most 2-3 times a year. I brush my teeth in the shower too which seems strange to some.
If I don't have any shaving foam I can shave in the shower without anything as long as I haven't got more than two days growth (although two days hurts).

I don't shave with or against my groin. I use a series of pulleys and levers to remove my hair.

Ouch, I could understand the lever system for facial hair, but for groin hair that sounds a tad risky.

Why don't you just buy one? I have one of those with a plastic frame and handle.

Isn't that something... Shower AM/FM Radio with Alarm Clock & Fogless Mirror...

At first I didn't quite get why anyone would want an alarm clock in the shower, but then I remembered my ex and his one hour+ showers.

Found this on Digg, of all places. It's making me reconsider my shaving habits.

Its amazing that "what's old" eventually becomes "what's new," and is found to still be better than what we have now. Some of the techniques discussed make a lot of sense. I'm not sure about the "throat cutter" razor, however. The high end shaving creams make sense, as does the non-alcohol based aftershave. Anybody else willing to try a badger brush and a double-edge razor?

Thanks a lot for the link, I'm trying out some of the ideas in the article now.

for those who find that shaving with the grain doesn't get as close a shave as against, I do see your point but try this...

Shave with the grain every day, wether you feel you need to or not. after a few days as your face gets used to it you will notice a difference.

On the side topic of the razor, i seem to find i get a nice good shave from generic single blade disposable razors, but you need to concentrate so as not to cut yourself.

I'm very lazy and don't want to constantly buy razors, so I use an electric shaver.

Here here!

Sometimes I touch it up with a disposable razer.
