The microphone will always pick up the sound played by the phone's speakers. So this feature always worked. May be they made some improvements to pick up the sound better at lower volumes or avoid any other problems caused by reverberations on the phone.

This has been added over a year ago. Or even two.
Funny. My Control Center Shazam searches don't show up in my Shazam app...not under 'My Music' Shazams, nor under 'Recent Shazams' and I'm on the latest version. Even after I click on the Shazam Notification and the app opens, it still is not listed with the ones I get from the app itself.

I just tried it and it does work for me. They appear in the Shazam app under My Music.
But… they’re not added to the Shazam playlist in the Music app.

Ironic that Apple have the tech yet don't integrate it into their own TV content.

When I'm watching something & hear music, I don't want to reach for the app as it's usually over at that point, it should be directly hard linked into the programme so if I hear something I get a box (like subs) which gives a direct link to Apple Music / add to Apple Music library, it should be relatively resource light for them to do, am I the only one who sees this?
My god, that would be horrible. I don’t want to be pulled out of my movie experience by having pop-up boxes telling me what song is playing. I don’t mind navigating to the soundtrack or playlist myself.

Can't you ask Siri to Shazam it?
Why should I have to Shazam, or use Soundhound or whatever. Sometimes the match is hit 'n' miss, sometimes not found, especially if it's only just a few bars of a song, Apple already know the music used, so no error.

I don't mean pop-ups obviously, but in the same way you toggle to subs, tap the menu & have an icon next to how you get subs. It's not unknown you know, think it's Netflix that shows the song being used in with their subtitles.

For the user it's an optional extra, for apple it drives people to their content, win-win all round.

I've been waiting for this feature for a while. It never really worked with the control panel button for me. Maybe i didn't something wrong

It would be nice if Shazam's new feature bring to Live Activities capabilities while working on identifying a song from other applications.

I still see an awkward microphone icon and no other process response until it is job done.
