Whew! Glad I got mine in when it still said delivers on the 16th! I've got my computer at home re-downloading everything in 1080p in anticipation. I was willing to pay a small fee to get 1080p so I was thrilled that Apple made it available for free. Now I have to go through and delete SD versions to help clear up some space!

iPad's confirmed as arriving next Friday :) Didn't bother with an ATV as the upgrade was fairly pointless if you already own the ATV2. Not worth another £100 to go from 720p (1080p with jailbreak) to 1080p on the new one.

Next week's going to be exciting. Got a Raspberry Pi shipping on Monday! :D
(Note if you dont know what that is, you need to look at it. A $25 1080p computer, works as an AppleTV replacement with XBMC and Airplay)

I put my Apple TV 2 on craigslist yesterday and sold it this morning for 80$; got over 5 requests. For 20$ I think the upgrade worth it.

Likewise. Listed it on eBay Monday evening and sold it on the day of the announcement for 120. Jailbroken, of course.

This teaches me two things. First, that there is a great resale market for the majority of slightly used Apple products. And second, most people don't care much about 1080p, it's the content variety and added functionality that they really want.

Question, did you sell it to someone inside the US?
I ask because there are still a lot of places where you can't get them and people want them even with higher prices.

Why do you make the assumption people don't care about 1080p, maybe they just don't know, there are lots of people which buy a certain Apple product right before that product gets an update, they are just not aware of that.

Good point on the awareness of 1080p. You are right, and it was a poor assumption to make on my part. Do, however, listen to/read many of the comments sprinkled throughout the forums, etc. It seems as though there is good representation of those with aTV2 who have voted to pass on the new aTV because they can get the updated interface on their existing product and thus the only incentive for them to upgrade would be 1080p, which they say is not enough.

Obviously many of these aTV2 users such as myself are planning to upgrade, but a good number are not. Just an observation.

Yes, the sale was to an individual in the US.
