I completely agree with the OP. The 4 is the most beautifully designed phone I've ever seen. I'm hoping that Apple doesn't move backwards as far as external design is concerned in their future upgrades.
When I first saw the new iPhone design I hated it. I thought it looked ugly and I just didn't think it was Apple's best. Even after holding it for the first time, my feelings towards it did not change. A few months after the release I started to grow towards the feeling. So much that now I own one, and I agree the design is amazing. It feels like something that would cost a ton of money.
Not a fan at first when Gizmodo leaked the photos last April. But the features convinced me enough to sell my first gen iPhone the day it was announced (6/7/10). When I first held it in my hand, I really felt like I was holding a piece of jewelry. It felt like a $1000 phone and made all the previous iPhone look fat and bloated. I still don't think the iPhone 4 is the most ergonomically iPhone ever. Edges can be sharp and expect it to shatter if dropped at the wrong angle now that it doesn't have a bezel. It is also very slippery and I can OCD with the fingerprints on BOTH sides. A case solves it. But based on pure aesthetics, yes, it is one of the sexiest phone ever made.
One of the best looking phone to me is still the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 back in 2008. Steel aluminum design and I prefer my phones to be narrower when I hold it against my ear. I am also getting tired washing my hands all the time and wouldn't mind going back to a stylus and resistive screen. I am still 50/50 if I want it as my back-up phone. Imagine a $799 luxury phone back a little over two years ago can now be bought under $200 will now act as my back-u phone? I just need something to tweak with.
I played with my friend's iPhone 4 without a case and it's really nice! It feels heavier than my 3GS but I don't mind. The build quality is unbelievable.
I want to upgrade to an iPhone 4 so badly right now but iPhone 5 is right around the corner. I hope the A5 (dual core) is there and a better camera. I'd wait 3 more months for that.
My iPhone feels like garbage now after holding that beauty.
If I get a new iPhone, I don't think I'm going to use a case. I don't care if there are a few scratches. It's too nice.

Totally agreed, I love the design of the iPhone 4! This is definitely the most beautiful phone I've ever had. It feels so premium compared to other phones. Honestly out of all the phones I've had over the years this is by far the best experience I've had. I never really liked the 3G/3GS design so this was a huge improvement.
