A Pink Floyd collaboration would have been awesome…
It's just a bit, hmmmph, to have spent decades seeing that building associated with that album, and then there you are eating your crumpets an tea when all of the sudden there are luxury apartments + wallace & gromit happening all over it.

Haha!

You saw how many years it took before the remastered Animals was released because David and Roger kept fighting and couldn’t agree about the sleeve notes.

As nice an idea as it is, can you imagine how many decades it would take to broker any agreement between them on even allowing the idea of something like this, let alone approving the final, erm, cut of such a video?

We’d be lucky if the building still existed by then!

For those not in the know… Battersea Power Station is HUGE! And although this is Apple’s UK headquarters it still only takes up a very small % of space within the Power Station itself.

Worth a visit to look the architecture* but as you've picked up on its a strange place indeed. It feels like a shopping centre aimed at the international super-wealthy (or corporate lawyers at the least)

It’s pretty much the same set of shops you’ll find at Westfield and other upscale London malls (Apple, Lululemon, Uniqlo, etc)… if anything Westfield (White City) goes a bit more high-end with Breitling, Gucci, Tiffany & Co, etc in its luxury wing.

but it is all a bit confused about what they want and therefore manages to miss the mark with most people - its all very un-London really. Plus, it’s a bit of pain to get to.

I’d say it’s very “modern London”. These sorts of developments have been popping up all over the city. Battersea just has a different vibe, perhaps, due to the epic scale of the building, not purpose built as a mall that maximises use of its floor space.

Plus, it’s a bit of pain to get to.

Easy enough trip down the Northern line to the new tube station they built for it! Or, even better, take the Thames Clippers high-speed boat service to the river pier immediately outside it.

Combine with a visit to the adjacent Battersea Park, and/or a walk along this very nice section of the Thames Path. You can go west all the way to Putney, Kew, and Richmond, or east back towards Waterloo and the South Bank.

Are you joking? I visited them last week, it’s colossal and like 8 storeys tall inside.

I’m sure it is! The point I was trying to make was that the article makes it sound like Apple UK HQ is Battersea Power Station. The reality is that Apple only takes up a small % of the Power Station itself and most visitors would be oblivious that Apple even has a HQ there.
