surely most people would buy the best model. also apple would make less money selling cheaper models when they can just make you buy the more expensive one, without giving you the option....

end of the day there No1 PRIORITY is to make money not make people happy

Yes; Apple should produce amore than one model of the iPhone. Black and White, like they promised.

There is no reason for them to make a differ model when they already seem to update the exist model annually.

Let's say Apple made a lower end 4 model. It wouldn't make sense for someone to purchase a lower end 4 when they could probably get a regular 3GS for the same price or cheaper, which would be just as good or better than a lower end 4.

Then you can imagine all the cry babies .... Why does Apple treat us lower end users like crap? Why are the updates not geared towards my iPhone? Blah blah blah?

And ofcourse the iPhone is like it's own entity. OS, Hardware, AppStore, ITunes, etc: It's ALL Apple. Unlike having a Android phone made by a separate manufacture and having carrier specific UI tweaks.

I don't think different models of iPhone would fit into the focus Apple has had with the iPhone ... and I do not think it would influence more people to buy an iPhone.

I also think Apple likes the term "The iPhone"

Most of the countriesa that sell the iphone have more than 1 carrier. Even canada has 3 carriers, and even sell unlocked iphones. How is it that Apple in the US is ass backwards with the iphone?
Actually Canada has 5 carriers that officially sell the iPhone (Bell, Telus, Rogers, Fido, and Virgin. +1 if Koodoo sells it but even if you can't buy it with Koodoo, you can use it with Koodoo. And then in Saskatchewan you can additionally use it on SaskTel. There are only 3 networks amongst all those carriers (Telus/Bell network, Rogers network and SaskTel network IIRC), but at least people have a choice of customer service and plans from different carriers.

Well they do have 2 models sort of...the 3GS and the 4. Both are available to buy.

I think they're current strategy is working now, except the main problem is that they need to expand to more carriers.

The fact that the iPhone is stiff competition to Android and RIM, despite only having 2 different handsets, and on ONE carrier, shows how popular this product is, and the potential it could have, if it went to other carriers. If iPhone went to Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint, I don't think Android and RIM could keep up. So many people on those carriers would switch to an iPhone in a heartbeat. They just don't want AT&T.

I was thinking more along the lines of say a 4.3 inch model and a 3.2 inch model. The screen ratios would be identical and would run the same apps.

So your saying iPhone should have the option of also an Evo sized screen. That would be nice to half that option.
