I bought my S3 three weeks ago because I wanted a WIDER phone. Saw the multiple leaks of the latest iPhone. Was NOT impressed. Wanted something NEW - and wider - not just "tall".

Rolled the dice and bought the S3 anyway. Waaaay too many consistant leaks, of the "New iPhone"/ iPhone 5/ iPhone 6 argument ( remember?).

Today's "presentation" makes me realize I made the right decision, and didn't waste my time waiting and buying the " leak", I didn't want. Wow the leaks were dead on.

I'll get the next iPhone ( or AFTER the iPhone 5s), when apple is done milking the fanboys, and they actually come out with a wider phone.

Your post is dead on accurate.

I use & enjoy both iOS, & Android.

Several weeks ago when it became rather apparent that Apple was still clinging to the tiny display, I decided that I'd forego my annual iPhone purchase & simply keep the 4S.

I've promoted my fast, fun & ever so comfortable SGS III to primary position as my main smartphone of choice.

Should Apple offer a full sized display (4.65" to 4.8") in next years phone, I'm a buyer.

They're pushing those leaks to make people keep talking iPhone during all of other smartphones releases, and tbh don't think they'll change their policy in nearest future.

Look, there are like millions of iPhone holders, only a small, tiny percentage of them are geeks and enthusiasts like us who track every single news about their devices. They prefer to push more info to audience and "be on tongues" rather than give some fun to crazy asses like us.

Apple has grown a lot since the last iPhone, it's completely different company now, time to face it.

I would wager that Steve Jobs had NOTHING to do with it. The iPhone has become the most popular piece of technology to blog about. As the popularity goes up, the likelihood of leaks goes up. It happens for other companies but not as much as Apple because WAY fewer people care about other companies products.

Hate to break it to you but iPhone has been the most popular piece of technology for SIX years now. It was first blogged about in 2006, released in 2007, and every iteration has been blogged, gossiped, spyshotted, and dissected since. There is NO greater buzz on iPhone 5 vs prior iPhones. In fact, I'd argue the iPhone 5 release has generated less media buzz than previous releases....

Yes, I believe the popularity of the iPhone has not really changed. And yes, I think Steve scared and threatened the #$%# out of bloggers, reporters, assembly factories, third party vendors, etc if they leaked anything.

Very Few Leaks

This was a very well orchestrated "Leak Campaign" on Apples part.

Oh sure, I'm certain a small portion were genuine leaks, whereas the great majority were controlled by Apple.

For reasons I find ridiculous Apple seems to have a great fear of Samsung. Of Android, and possibly Windows Phone 8.

In addition they've put an unusually heavy focus on negative legal assaults on the competition. This hurts everyone.

However, Apple being who they are today, seems to thrive on controversy, headlines, and court battles. All the while selling boatloads of product.

It just goes to show that Americans especially, love a good fight, lots of controversy, and products that bolster their ego.

I'm sure he did. The man could be especially vicious.
