Where is it now? If you are lucky you will still get it tomorrow, when I ordered my mid '09 BTO MBP I received it a day before the estimated delivery.

Stop, relax, breathe, you are getting a new Mac!

Do you have ANY idea how many people would love to be in your shoes?

It'll be there when it gets there and within 2 nanoseconds you will have forgotten all about the _short_ wait.

I concur.

You know this like the 3rd or 4th thread I've read on macrumors in the last 6 months complaining about the time it takes to receive something and how they paid for expedited shipping and because of a weekend it is taking longer than they thought.....

Seriously people. Understand the basics to all build/shipping times: IT IS ALWAYS QUOTED IN BUSINESS DAYS. It's in the fine print. Seriously.

No one delivers on Sunday and Saturday only happens if it is comes via snail mail or super expedited ridiculously priced Fed Ex Over Night Saturday Delivery.

This is why the type of shipping you get is dependent on when you order. If you order on a Wednesday 2-3 shipping will be no faster than standard shipping. Both you'll probably get Monday. Really come to think of it, 99% you order anything it's at your door in 2-4 days depending on when you order. Ordering in the morning on a Monday and having it by Thursday is very common with standard shipping.

Just wait for it, and use the discount on some nice headphones or something :) Plus you may be surprised by how quickly it arrives. Mine gave an expected delivery of 2nd March and I had it on 28th Feb :) Well, my boyfriend had it. I just got it yesterday since he had to ship it to me lol.

You could probably call back, explain the confusion, and say that you'd rather NOT spring for the expedited shipping and would like your money back for it since you feel mislead. They'll likely refund you that, possibly give you a little something extra, and still send your computer in the same time-frame since it's probably already in the pipeline.

Perhaps I should clarify.

I purchased the system online Sunday night. Monday is day 1, Tuesday is day 2, and Wednesday is day 3. It was shipped on day 3 (the 9th) from Shanghai and is currently is in the hands of FedEx...

FedEx did not receive it until Weds. To meet your 2-3 business day window they would need to deliver it by Friday or the next Monday. FedEx does not deliver on Saturday unless the sender specifically requests it which Apple will not do since it costs very much more.

By delivering your precious on Monday, Apple and FedEx have met their deadline. 3 business days from China to wherever you are is pretty good.

that's part of the reason why I never put expedited shipping on items that don't ship right away.

2-3 business day shipping is M-F.

If order takes 1-3 days to be prepared, your shipping might run into the weekend. Which may push it to the next week.

I think the OP is right, shipping times need to be clearly stated and followed but don't be too quick to blame Apple either. Here's my situation and I don't usually complain about shipping (because it is what it is) and this one is on UPS, not Apple, but it's still got me thoroughly peeved.

A week ago today I ordered a new 17" MBP to replace my MB that died last week. I didn't absolutely have to have it right away but I do need it this week. It was a stock config and showing "in-Stock". The order page said receive between March 8 and March 11 so I went ahead and ordered. That was the third. Got a shipment notification from Apple on the 4th saying it had shipped and I would receive it March 9. All good so far.

Monday when I checked the tracking, I see that it shipped from Shanghai, China. OK, I'm in Canada and I would think when the online Canadian store shows them "in stock" that they would actually be in stock in the Canadian store, not in a warehouse or factory in China. Not a big deal though as long as I got it this week. That certainly ain't gonna happen though as this machine is becoming a world traveller. It went from Shanghai, China to Osaka, Japan to Anchorage, Alaska to Louisville, Kentucky to Buffalo, NY and now sits in Mount Hope, Ontario. I work in the transportation industry and the fact that it went from Buffalo to Mt Hope means it is on a truck. I live at the extreme east cost of Canada and it will take 4-5 days from there to here via truck which means mid next week. UPS tracking was showing delivery by end of business March 15 when it was in Louisville but now shows nothing.

So end result, at least two weeks from Apple and a full week after promised delivery date. I was going to call Apple but why bother? Last month my son's iPod Touch was returned for service and the UPS driver who delivered the replacement left it sitting in the snow outside my front door (even though the slip said signature required). Called Apple to let them know what their shipping company was doing but they didn't seem to even care.

Who can you possibly be mad at? I understand being excited to get something but you are asking if you should be upset at apple for giving you a 2-6 business day window and it being scheduled to come within that window? Is this your first experience with business days and how they work? This is the standard in business, why do you think they call them business days?! You could pay for next day on Friday and unless you specify Saturday delivery you will get it Monday. Before getting mad, get informed on how the system works.

Hey now, that's not completely fair. The US Post office delivers on Saturday (and will deliver it as soon as it arrives, as will FedEx).

Now, UPS... when they say 3 business days, they mean it. Your package could arrive in your city on the morning of the 2nd business day. It will wait there until the third day (FedEX and US Post will send it out as soon as it gets there though). UPS are bastards that way (I'm pretty sure it's a policy. My roommate pointed it out and ever since I've noticed that, it can arrive days earlier, they will *not* deliver it until the day it was promised. I suspect it is to try to encourage you to pay more for the quicker delivery. I guess they feel if they sometimes deliver quicker than promised on "slower" delivery they can't get you to upgrade your delivery option).

That explains the last time I dealt with UPS! I had to get a replacement cell phone, and it was due to arrive on a Friday. It got into my town Wednesday, and sat until Friday. I was beyond furious... Didn't know they'd actually go to the extent of being flat out lazy to try to motivate you to pay them for another service... Ridiculous. I just thought they were stupid and couldn't figure their jobs out. Now I know they're idiots :p

Yeah, it's kinda stupid. I honestly don't know if that is their reasoning (or it could be it just makes it easier to time everything properly, maybe it's not that, but I would suspect it is that).

But, the way I look at it is until that was pointed out to me and then I noticed it was true, I had no real preferences for carriers. Now I prefer FedEx or US Postal cause it will get to me as soon as it can and not wait longer just cause they didn't promise me a quicker time. Sometimes I prefer US Postal cause it may even make it to me by Saturday (actually, I like US Postal best cause of this. Usually, if it is not coming cross country, US postal is the quickest one when we're talking basic delivery and not paying for quicker shipping).

So instead of convincing me to pay for quicker delivery, it has convinced me to use some one else if I have the choice (though to be honest my first consideration is which one costs me the less money, but everything equal, they'd be my last choice).

USPS is Federally subsidized, has to be delivering on Saturday anyways, and can't get a package end-to-end from China to your house in 3 business days to begin with.

Fedex will do Saturday delivery but you'll pay a bunch for it. Without a doubt you'll KNOW you're getting Saturday delivery after you fork over the $$.

Update - It was just delivered to the house 10 minutes ago. I won't be able to work on it till Monday. Oh the irony.
