Hi!
I'm thinking of buying a second small AW, maybe the 41mm Series 7, for sleep tracking. Anyone with this setup here? Does it work?

And does a 2nd AW sync the health and activity data with the main AW?
Thanks!

Apple will love you, but the deal breaker, for me, is the light for the pulse measurement. I can sleep with the large AW, but if I can see the light (sounds kinda funny) I tend to wake up, and for whatever reason, have a hard time getting back to sleep. *shrug* But that's just me... I hear it reduces the number of times it scans, but still...

Is this light only visible on AW7? I can't see it on my AW5...

It should sync up seamlessly with your activity data. I have a S7 and SE that I purchased used. I mainly use the SE for yardwork or when I'm out golfing -- the S7 is used for everything else. But each time I turn on the SE and put it on my wrist, the data will sync up pretty quickly from iCloud (though I have never timed it).

So if you're switching from one watch to the other, it wouldn't pose a problem.

Sorry for asking, but do you want to do this so that you can keep your watch charged?

I charge mine as I get ready to go to bed (approx 30 mins), wear it overnight and then charge again in the morning while I shower, get dressed etc... (approx 45mins to 1 hour).
That's more than enough to recharge up to 95% to 100%
By the evening the charge is down to anything between 50% to 70%.

Yes. I don't have to worry about the battery anymore.
Also, I have the 44mm AW5. A smaller one is more convenient for this purpose.

while a smaller one is a bit more convenient for sure, I'm not sure it's massively so, and if you're already buying a S7, why not go for a brand new primary Apple Watch and then use your S5 for sleep tracking?

If you're just buying a S7 for sleep tracking it seems a bit wasteful when an SE or older, cheaper model would do the trick, surely? or is there sleep tracking censors in the 7 that aren't in earlier models?

I wear my S5 all day including sleep, swap it out for my S4 while charging. S4 is also a gold stainless with leather strap that I wear for dressy occasions.

If you get a second, don't turn it on for sleep, if you use the sleep/wakeup function, both watches will sound your wakeup alarm and like me, you will be stumbling around to find it and turn it off.

It’s certainly an expensive solution, but it makes the Apple Watch much more enjoyable because you always have a charged watch. I only pay for cellular on my series 7. I draw the line there. I’m not going to pay for cellular for my series 5. It’s basically for sleep and odd moments where I need to charge my series 7.

I know everyone has their own use cases, but another anecdote here:

I use my S5 (about 1.5yrs old) for both daily-wear and sleep tracking every night. I charge it for the ~60mins every evening starting from when I jump in the shower > in bed (and put on basically before going to sleep). By then, it's almost always back up to 100%.

When I wake up in the morning, it's usually down into the mid/high-80s (~87%), but based on my use cases (go into work in an office), I'm never under 30% or so by the time it's evening again.

That is exactly what I do. My main watches are S6 SS Graphite and S5 Titanium which are both 44 MM. I also have an S4 40 MM Aluminum for sleep tracking. I used to have an S5 40 MM for sleep tracking, but found turning the AOD on/off a pain so went back to S4 (note that AOD on/off setting is not device specific). No AOD on S4 is better for sleeping and the size (40 MM) and weight (aluminum) helps. I just did order a used S7 40 MM (got an awesome price on it) just to see if I want to use that for sleep tracking. I figured that if the AOD bothers me during the sleep then I will just resell it locally.
