Yes. I don't have to worry about the battery anymore.
Also, I have the 44mm AW5. A smaller one is more convenient for this purpose.

I have a Series 7 and it will give you an alert before bed if it needs a charge to be able to log your sleep activity with enough time to charge before bed. It takes 8 minutes to charge enough for capturing a night’s sleep activity. It’s much better than previous generations. You shouldn’t need two watches with the new one, but it’s really up to you.

I have an AW6 that is my primary. When it's charging, I wear my old AW2. My routine is this.

  1. I wear my S6 to sleep. Fully charged.
  2. Wake up at the alarm at 630am. Charge is around 90-92%.
  3. Put on my S2, charge my S6. Snooze between 30 to 60 minutes (no judgements please).
  4. Actually get out of bed and get ready. Put my S6 on (100%)
  5. Go about my day.
  6. Swap watches before my evening shower. Charge is usually between 50-65%. S6 on charger.
  7. Get in bed and read while S6is charging.
  8. Before I fall asleep, I put on my S6 (100%).
  9. Go to Step 1

Thanks for your help!
I ordered a 41mm blue aluminum Series 7.

AW3 is too old at this point, and the AW7 is only 80€ more than the SE.
Also, I got 20€ off from Amazon, and on the AW7, they offer to split the price into 5 payments at no additional cost.

They clearly know how to convince people :)

You seem to have an AW S5. Will that continue to be your main watch?

I'm just wondering if the advances of the S7 over the S5 would warrant making the S7 your main watch and relegating the S5 to serve when you're charging your S7.

Of course! :)
The small S7 is perfect for sleep. But maybe too small for everyday usage.

The S5 will serve me for another 1 or 2 years as main watch, while I expect to keep the S7 for a long time. 80€ in 5 months for future-proofing my night watch :D

I guess it depends on whether you value the things the S7 does that the S5 doesn’t. Which is mainly the Blood Oxygen sensor.

If that doesn’t really interest you you could possibly get by with a small S6 as your sleep watch.

My new S7 is here!
As soon as I wear a watch, it syncs perfectly! I also have 2 separate checkboxes to activate Unlock my Mac. One for each device. Well done Apple! :)

Well, on Amazon the S6 was 20€ more than the S7 when I bought it.

Hi!
I'm thinking of buying a second small AW, maybe the 41mm Series 7, for sleep tracking. Anyone with this setup here? Does it work?

And does a 2nd AW sync the health and activity data with the main AW?
Thanks!
I have a Series 4 & Series 5 for that reason. I'm going to get a Series 7 with tax refund and trade-in series 4.

Yes to question 2.

Question using two watches, when your alarm goes of a 630am does the alarm go off on both the watch you're wearing and the other one that you're not wearing?
I can't figure out how to make it only go off on the one I'm wearing, have to get up and turn the other one off that's on the charger... Might be a good thing though, it's been forcing me to get up and not hit the snooze. 😄

There are some workarounds (google them, they‘re out there somewhere), but I simply decided to use only one of my Watches for sleep tracking and disabled the feature on the others. You can do that in the Watch app, in the settings for „Sleep“, there‘s a setting called „Use this Watch for Sleep“

I just wear one watch. I charge it in the evening while working out and showering. This easily gets back to 100%. I put in sleep mode while I sleep. This keeps the display off. I like being able to tap the display if I wakeup and see the time in large type, but just dimly displayed. This uses very little power so that by the next evening I have more than 50% charge remaining.

I'm not sure how I did it, but the alarm only goes off on my S6, which is usually the one I'm wearing. My S2 does not have an alarm set.

There are some times where I'll wake up before my alarm goes off and I'll switch watches. The S6 (which would no be charging) will go off at the alarm time (and my iPhone too). I have to remember to actively turn off Sleep on both the S6 and my iPhone. This is a rare occasion and the early morning brain activity serves a good purpose for me to get more ready to wake up.

This is probably how I have my watches set-up. I don't recall doing anything tricky with any of the settings.
