Used iPads are out there on Craigslist. The 16 GB WiFi only version should run you in the $450 range. I love mine and very seldom am in areas where I can't get a free WiFi signal. My guess is if the Ipad2 has significantly more features at about the same cost, you could probably still get around $400 for a good used one. I really can't see V2 being significantly better than V1...the rumor mill usually inflates the feature set.

Forget technology. Look at it this way. You can take Susie to the prom and have a good time. Or, you can hope the rumors are true that her hot friend Gwendolyn is breaking up with her boyfriend and might be available and might be a better date. So what do you do sport? Go with Susie and have a good time, or wait for Gwen and perhaps a night to remember, or maybe it'll turn out Gwen really isn't that into you or worse yet, you dink around and end up alone playing with your boutineer while someone else is dancing with Susie and Gwen.

Just go buy the darned thing. You'll be glad you did. Forget cameras or USB ports. This is a game changer. Really.

go buy the ipad now. you can always sell it later once the new ipad comes out. you won't regret it.

So, umm, guys, I was just wondering. I'd really really really like an iPad now, but I'm afraid that if I get one now, I'll be disappointed I didn't wait for the highly-probably refresh in the Spring, what should I do??
:p:D:cool:

If you're seeking reassurance from strangers on the Internet then maybe you should hold off. The "refresh" is not "highly-probable" because you aren't going to find many people who dispute that it will happen.

Maybe he/she is not "seeking reassurance from strangers" but is instead seeking opinions that he/she may take into consideration when making a decision?

I know, I know. You can't feel good about your sarcastic, condescending witticism if you give someone else a little bit of credit. Right? ;)

Folks, it is legitimate to ask for others opinions. If you don't want to share one you don't have to.

I think you will be completely miserable if you buy it now and it will effect you for the rest of your life. I'd wait about 5 years and just see what happens. ;)

I noticed this morning that the US apple store has refurbished iPads for sale, I'm not sure if this is something new but it is the first that I've seen of refurbished iPads. I wish the Canadian store had them for sale, it would be a nice way of saving money.

I LIKE the ipad a lot, it's a cool piece of equipment, but on the otherhand, i'm still trying to convince myself WHY I would buy one.
My gf was about to buy me one (with my money of course ^^) this afternoon, but I kind of... chickened out:p
I'm still trying to find out why i want one, hehe.
It's easy to watch a movie, websurfing, ... but then again, i can do the same thing on my mbp, lol:D

Umm, perhaps I was too subtle. Because the OP and others have been asking this question ad nauseum, I was being facetious.

Wait for the iPad 4.

The iPad 4 will use a revolutionary "magical" power source which will never need recharging. It is powered by the potential energy found in internet message boards from posts made by people who will "potentially" buy the next model. :D.

Seriously, if you can use it now, you might as well go ahead and buy it. Resale value on most Apple products is pretty good. The iPad has really been selling well on eBay and Craigslist, that's a good sign. Chances are the version 2 iPad won't be a huge update - but if you really want it, you can sell your old iPad and upgrade.

You've waited this long so just wait a little longer. That's what I'm doing...another 4-5 months. Time goes by too fast to justify purchasing it now when in that short span there will be a new one with a camera.
