Yeah I know lol. It wasn't advertised as much as previously.

Plus I'm more of an Android guy and have always owned a PC. It was kind of an impulse buy, I played on my pals, realised my gaming pc is taking up space as I never use it and decided to have a change.

It was just by visiting this forum that I realised how close the conference is. Lucky really.

I cancelled. It would be less hassle to cancel than receive it and have to send it back.

Roll on Monday!

Good move. I'm also a PC gal and after owning PCs for over 10 years, I'm making the switch to Mac. I like the stability and form factor of MACs, and since I work in IT, the ability to use boot camp/parallels means I'm not missing out on anything.

I see having a Mac as 2 laptops for the price of... a very expensive one. :D

I've waited 5 months and I just hope this is not a case of having to wait weeks or even months. I hope these are available for purchase on Monday.

Hey Sarah!

If they aren't available within the next week, will you wait or just get the early 2013 model, the one I listed?

Even though the tech will be older than the new MCA it'll still be a faster, more powerful machine.

I don't think l'll wait for months.

Thanks for that. That's a great contribution.

it is, it's logically correct to wait, not only for you to save money, but it will also get you a better computer, all by the fact that you wait 1-2 weeks.

questions?

You talk about logic yet all you've done is speculate. I took exception to your comment because I made a joke about patience, but really I was just weighing up the risk of not having a computer for longer for no reason.

I didn't want to cancel and wait another 3 days if they don't change the rMBP line, I don't mind waiting for a better product but you have no idea if they will and if the advice will just leave me without a computer for another 4 days.

If I were to keep it then I could have returned it the next day at no cost. To save time, possibly money and to operate in the realms of logic you need to operate in the realm of certainty. Your way doesn't.

I could have returned it for free so it's logical to keep it just in case they don't update it. Now I've gambled on an update. It might be less hassle but it's not more logical.

All I can say Philuk84 is welcome to the Apple community. It comes with it's expensive quirks but overall they are just easier to work with. And the Genius Bar thing is just the best customer support system I have ever encountered. Your next move is to get a iPhone. These things just work so well together. Nothing wrong with the Droid, but I feel it makes sense to keep everything on one platform so they can interact with each other

Unless something is truly amiss, Apple will offer MBP's and MBA's with the new Haswell processor. In addition to greatly enhance battery life and improved integrated graphics the Haswell Processors will probably offer a small performance gain over their Ivybridge counterparts.

Whether these improvements are meaningful to you is only a question you can answer. With that said, it would be wise to wait until the WDCC until purchasing your MBP.

Lol. Annoying conference! So I've reordered and I'm just awaiting approval from the finance, which I was accepted for previously so it shouldn't be an issue.

I've chosen the base 15 inch retina model, 2.4 i7, 8GB.

I'm mainly going to be using it for some music recording and production, video editing, Web surfing, music and the odd game etc.

8GB is fine for this right? Using Logic, Final Cut, and Reaper etc. I'll probably have this for 2-3 years. It's more than enough on my PC, but I'm new to Mac and just want to make sure before its all finalised.

Thanks. :)

I'm getting a refurb with hopefully 16 gigs, as its a lot cheaper but same quality. I'd say buy a refurb too, and consider maxxing out the ram. Since its soldered on, its better to discover you don't need it all then to realize you need more.

Of course, if you just plan on using it for 2 or 3 years 8 would probably be ok if you don't think you need it. I plan on using my MBP for as long as possible. Best of luck with yours!

With Haswell coming in, it doesn't seem to be a good time to buy macbooks at present. I'd personally wait.

I've put another application in with more RAM, we'll see how they take it. :)

For months? For a minor upgrade? Doesn't seem worth it. If it were just round the corner then yea, but it could be 6 months away.

I didn't think Haswell was minor. If was going for the 13" model I'd like to have the improved graphics. I'm sure it won't be 6 months away. They don't normally update in December.

I think it's negligible for me, as it probably is for most people. How will it help me with recording music at home? It won't. I need a new laptop now so I can't wait, even though yea, I'd like to.

Biggest impact will be battery life which isn't minor at all.

That said, It might be awhile. Apple is giving the new MBA a chance to take hold and don't want anything to steal its thunder.

For the record I don't know if 8 or 16 is better, I've wondered myself. But since it can't be upgraded, too much is better then too little, but it could be plain overkill too.

That's what I figure. It's not that much to upgrade anyway.
