Should I disable encryption before upgrading to High Sierra?

Hello everyone,

While I like to do my own research and the answers by myself, after scouring the forum, I couldn't get a clear answer on this. I have File Encryption enabled. Should I turn it off before upgrading to HS? I've read some posts that some get performance downsides when having encryption enabled.

What's the situation currently? What's the performance impact?

I've upgraded 2 laptops, one was brand new, one I had been using for a few years, both with FileVault enabled. I had no issues with upgrading either laptop without disabling FileVault.

My 2016 15" Pro upgraded from FileVault HFS+ to APFS Encrypted with no issues.
