I just got a lifeproof a couple days ago and so far so good, used it in the shower and was fine. The only thing I hate is the screen protector.

Yes, if you work at Seaworld or on a fishing trawler.

I hated the lifeproof for reasons besides the screen protector. It muffles the phone so much that you HAVE to use a bluetooth or wired headset with it. Also not a fan of wired headset dongle, wish they would have made it sit flush with the top of the case. My wired headsets lost the capacity to get siri with a push of the button with the dongle as well.

Worse of all, despite the bulk that the case adds, it failed to protect my 4s's screen when dropped 3 feet.

If you live or work in a place that water damage if a very real and likely concern, I'd recommend the case. But if you don't work at Seaworld, I'd advise you to find something else.

THIS. Its great abut the cheap plasticky screen and hard to press button ruin the experience for me. PLEASE LIFEPROOF FIX THIS!!! Incipio is coming out with one that has a glass screen so lifeproof should step it up!

you might be interested to get the NUUD series

Those who does not like the plastic screen guard, you guys might be interested with the Nuud series.

I got mine from http://www.mastershop.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=nuud
for the iphone 5, its fantastic.

I also tried the incipio Atlas, very sturdy case, however there is a small issue with the mic.
Using the incipio Atlas, the other side will have issue hearing you clearly. This is my experience with the case.

There is also another brand called Dog and Bone (http://www.mastershop.com.au/shop-by-brand/don-and-bone.html), this one is as sturdy as incipio atlas, not plastic screen guard like the nuud series and clear sound in and out.

Cheers

Two things I hated about the Lifeproof nude;

Nobody could hear me on calls even with a replacement.

My vines were ruined by the seashell effect of air swirling through the mic.

once I saw the OP had a - rating I knew this had to be an old thread. audio quality suffered badly for me on the lifeproof.

if you intend to use your iPhone for phone calls without a corded headset or a bluetooth headset I would suggest getting a different case than Lifeproof- the call quality with this case on is totally unacceptable

I use it when doing fieldwork or kayaking/beaching it. The protection can't be beat in the field. When I'm cruising around town or airports though that plasticky thing can live in my luggage not on my screen. Although accident protection will replace your device if your work depends on having one 24/7 then only a waterproof case will suffice.

+1 for not buying the fakes for cheaper on ebay etc. I went down that road and they leaked. The real ones contain two separate serial numbers inside and ebay is full of knock-offs.

Thinking of picking one up for the summer, camping and the beach. Is the call quality really that bad? I guess I could just remove the case at night and just but it on during the day when Im near water but that seems like a pain.

By the way anyone know of a case thats waterproof and has an extended battery?

You would figure that for 80 bucks the built in screen protector would be better but it's not. Utter trash, I wanted to love the case but couldn't get passed the screen protector

Do not purchase a lifeproof case

DO NOT PURCHASE A LIFEPROOF CASE! I PURCHASED A LIFEPROOF CASE WITH TOTAL WATER PROTECTION. LIFEPROOF PROVED TO HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. They offered no suggestions to help me or to make my issue right.

I purchased a Lifeproof case because of the water protection. FYI - total water protection is only sold in Verizon Corporate stores and not in all Verizon stores. The case I purchased did have total water protection.

I went through the lengthy process of registering so that I could receive this benefit.

Unfortunately, my phone suffered water damage at the beach approx. 9 months after I purchased the case. I immediately called Lifeproof when I returned home. I was on hold for over 30 min. and my phone call was not answered.

I attempted to find the policy on-line but I was unable to find exactly what I was looking for, and what I did find was extremely confusing.

I needed the phone for work the next day. I went to the Apple store that night and Apple confirmed that the phone suffered un-repairable water damage. They switched out my phone for $269, and gave me a receipt that stated that the phone suffered water damage and could not be repaired.

I called Lifeproof again the next day and was able to get through this time. Because I replaced my phone (since I needed it for work), my warranty was considered void and they would not do anything for me. I was not eligible for a replacement case or a refund on the phone since I replaced it with Apple the night before.

For future reference, to have the damaged phone repaired, you must pay $50 and ship the phone to Lifeproof, when they receive the phone they will attempt to repair it, and if they can't repair it, they will send a refurbished phone. Therefore, you will be without a phone for at least a week.

Accidents happen, but I have never dealt with a customer service department that offered no suggestions to help make a bad situation better.

I retired mine as well. It's not worth the 80 bucks. Also my friend took his phone and case white water rafting with me, I had my phone in one of those plastic sleeve things he had a lifeproof. At the end my phone was dry and fine. His phone was wet and broken. He had the case for 6 months. I guess the gasket wore out

I had bad experiences with the 1st gen lifeproof fre cases. I think in general the 1st releases are bad.

Recently I got a lifeproof nuud for my iPhone 5s and it works flawless.

buy it

I recently purchased a iPhone 4/4s Case - Limited Edition RealTree and I really like it. Everything is easily accessible and I have had no problems at all with the screen protector. On my iPhone 4, the headphone jack and home button both used to not work. but ever since I bought this case they both have started working. And to the people that complain about the scratch protector, for $10 more you can get the Nüüd case that has all the same 4 proofs, but still lets you touch the actual touchscreen. So everyone that said that lifeproof is bad because of the pillow effect the Nüüd case has rendered your argument useless. They also look cool and you can remove them easily. And to all the people who's phones suffered water damage whilst in a lifeproof case, you probably didin't water test it every two weeks like is says to on the website that it tells you to visit on the box so therefore, you have no right to complain about how they did not give you a refund.
:):):):):):D:eek::(:p;)

I had the iPhone 5 life proof and didn't like it. It buzzed a bit and had the oil slick on the screen which looked bad.

There are also really good imitations out there for a lot less, but I don't know the quality of the design.

Finally, I ended up buying the Seidio waterproof case:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A9S3GYA/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It works good, but has an issue getting a full seal with a thick screen protector. No iPhone 6 version currently, and they used to be quite a bit cheaper.

If you need that much protection then yes. It has its downsides. You can add me to the list of those who returned theirs.

Same here I bought one for the 4s I didn't feel safe knowing that even if it did past water test my phone might get wet and the co wouldn't fix it. . So returned next day. And got an otter box again.

Tied again on my gs4 with 2 life proof's (yes one broke and got returned (had a small chip missing)) then the charge port door broke on the other one (still have yet to water test it) so I bought a otter box defender. (I had before so pretty much bought a new front and rubber thats all mine needed. Seems cases dont last long for me
