magic mouse only magic for Apple's bottom line

Have had my magic mouse for about 3 months now- already showing signs of fatigue and I have no doubt it will stop working after about 6 months (which is in keeping with the apple "mighty mouse" failure rate).

Seriously poor quality mouse. The "right click" function is almost gone. It creeps/drifts. It sometimes has a mind of its own, etc. etc.

Grab a logitech mouse or trackball. Built to actually work for a looooonnng time.

I would say, since you find yourself in a position to choose, to get the Magic Trackpad. It is larger, more comfortable, and a nice looking addition to any aluminum Mac. I enjoy my Magic Mouse, I just think you are in a unique position to choose...

I had a Mighty Mouse with my first iMac back in 2006 and I hated it for just one reason: the right-click was for crap.

That said, the Magic Mouse right-clicks beautifully for me.

Not so sure about your "failure rate". I'm going on 14 months and not a single issue to mention. I've dropped the Magic Mouse a few times onto a hardwood floor as well. I would say just the opposite: it's quite solidly constructed.

The form factor is a personal preference.

My Logitech MX Revolution is still going strong but I had an MX630 before that which went south less than a year after purchase. It started double clicking on single clicks, extremely annoying and basically rendered it useless.

I bought the magic mouse but stopped using it. I have yet to find a wireless mouse I like. They all experience momentary delays from time to time (especially if they haven't been use for a minute or so) and I choose not to tolerate that. If you have used a wireless mouse before and didn't have a problem, you will probably love the magic mouse.

P.S. Anyone want to buy a slightly used magic mouse?

I just got the 21.5" iMac for Christmas. It came with the magic keyboard, but it came with a crappy black PC mouse. Should I go to Best Buy (since I have a gift card there) and flame $70 for the "magical" mouse? Or should I get a descent wireless mouse for less?

What? How did your iMac not ship with the Magic Mouse out of the box?

as others have said, get the trackpad. I got one for Christmas and my magic mouse is now collecting dust.

So much control in one small space. you'll wonder how you ever used your computer without one

I don't have small hands, but I like the magic mouse. For me, the size is perfect.

But, after using it a year I became disconnection problems. I tried a number of things and in the end, it was exchanged for a new one under AppleCare. I hope this solves the problem finally.

I picked up a trackpad last night and I'm in LOVE :D

Sorry magic mouse in the desk drawer you go. Now I just need to get another trackpad for home.

You all are convincing me to get the trackpad. I've been tempted the past few days, but keep telling myself I don't need it. My MX Revolution is great. But I find the MBP trackpad a joy to use for surfing, etc. I think the trackpad would be a great addition to the desktop. I may go pick one up at lunch.

Do it. I've never had the privilege of using a MBP so this is my first experience with the gestures etc.

I really really do love it.

I really appreciate OSX when I have the opportunity to lean back in the office chair, and use the Magic Trackpad in my left hand while watching the 27" iMac screen.

It's an experience unique to OSX, and it makes you realise what all the multitouch hype is about and why you switched to Apple.

:)

I mean, obviously you cannot do EVERYthing with the trackpad, but it's a useful adjunct and a joy to use.

Personally I use an M$ Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, it's really comfortable and not tiny like a lot of mice now, it's ugly next to all my pretty Mac stuff, but I don't care lol.

I agree! Hard to beat and it may not look good but nothing is better!:)

Apple Mice

I liked the Mighty Mouse (the one with the little rollerbutton), but had to retire it as the rollerbutton became unresponsive too often (even with cleaning). This was about 4 or 5 years ago.

I like the Magic Mouse (the one that essentially has a trackpad built into the top), but had to replace it after about two months of use. This was due to the imprecision in recognizing right-clicks. I gave it two months because I really liked the momentum swipe to scroll in web pages, and the left and right scroll (also in web pages).

So I can't recommend the Magic Mouse unless the right click problem doesn't bother you.

I haven't tried the Magic Trackpad, I'll have to give it a shot.
