just a quick note for those who are jailbreaking or those who have jailbroken but were having problems with lag, be sure to NOT install Installer (uncheck installer and use Cydia only instead) as well do NOT install the program called Kate. Both ofthese have been known to cause lagging problems. I got rid of both of these and haven't had any further lag problems on my phone.
