I too work at Best Buy for my college job. We actually JUST (as in like two days ago) opened up our Best Buy Apple store at my location and I'll be working the department in about two weeks. That's just a side note though...I just thought I would clear up all this speculation on what people are saying about Best Buy.

1. YES we have warranties for accidental damage even on Apple. They usually have a one, two, and three year "regular" plan (just manufacturer problems) and then they offer more expensive versions of the same plans that will also cover anything accidental related. If you need to bring in the laptop say...six months down the road to get it replaced, Best Buy is SUPPOSED to give you a laptop of equal or closest technology (not price). That usually results in you getting the exact same laptop, or the better version of yours if Apple has upgraded it recently.

2. Absolutely NO coupons Best Buy EVER offers will be applicable to anything made by Apple. The reason? Apple products get very little markup at retail stores. If you were to take 10% off an Apple product for a customer then you Best Buy would actually lose a little money off the product. This also sucks because my employee discount only takes like $9 off of a MacBook Pro for me, dammit. However, just because the coupon doesn't apply to Apple products (as stated on the fine print on the back of all of them) doesn't mean your idiot new cashier won't manually give you a 10% discount because their register isn't taking the 10% off when they scan the coupon.

Just wanted to clear up the misconceptions. The above is entirely fact, although Best Buy will tend to change things to accommodate their best interests. Bastards.

1. I find the customer service at the Apple store below par the apple employees who work at the Best Buy stores are very helpful in comparison and don't pressure you into buying the product.

2. Best Buy has its accidental damage plan it can get expensive, but I just purchased a MacBook Pro and only got the 1yr accidental coverage for 99 that coupled with the 1yr manufacturer warranty is great.

3. The downside is your lose Apple Care after 90 days, however you do have I 6 months to purchase the AppleCare plan if you buy from Best Buy whereas you can't buy the Best Buy accidental coverage if you buy from the Apple Store.

4. If you go to the right Best Buy at the right time you might even get a couple hundred dollars off a mac because of the open item rules at Best Buy, usually these are computers that were recently bought and the consumer returned them for one reason or another, usually its the case that the computers have never even been used or used very very little.
