I was a Windows user until 2006, when I finally switched to the Mac.

I was a Windows XP/Vista user until earlier this year as well. I had purchased a MBP because of the superior hardware and initially just ran Vista on it. I eventually switched to OSX and haven't looked back since.

Just remember, OSX is far more efficient and stable than Windows, but nothing is perfect. Errors and hangs do still exist.. Dont spend 5000$ on a new mac assuming its going to be 1000% flawless.
