You can afford the retina MacBook pro but not sure whether to spend another 100 for the retina iPad?

Please

financial aid from both the state of CA and Federal grants and scholarships have paid my rMBP. i was stretching the budget with purchasing an iPad too but i have not regrets.

Is the $339 you paided for the iPad 2 for a brand new or a refurb? I purchased a iPad 2 Saturday at bestbuy and paid $399. They have price match so that's why I'm asking.

My recently purchased iPad2 was a refurb and cost $319 plus tax so about $340 all in all. Great deal since refurb iPads include brand new battery and shell. I just couldn't justify $500 for a new iPad3 at this time. As a matter of fact I am so pleased that my next iPad and possibly mu next MBP will likely also be a refurb. :D

My wife still has an iPad 3 but I downgraded from the ipad 3 back to my old iPad 2 and have no regrets. Retina is nice but its not a necessity and since both handle all my tasks equally well then I'd rather put the money towards something different (iPad Mini, Surface, Nexus7 etc) than keep buying the same product from Apple every year.

Prob should put that towards textbooks and tuition lol

I thought about that but its actually covered already. The money I got is the left over money not used that's sent to me. School is paid for the fall quarter and since I'm a cs major most of my books I can find a digital copy to download hence why I also got an iPad lol I did it last quarter but it sucked using my Mac all the time to ready a book in class so an ipad is more convenient

That's not bad at all. If I ever buy refurb device it will only be from apple for now. Their products there are all carefully checked and treated for as if they were new.

Why go iPad 3 when there are more QC issues? It's a large downgrade in this respect.

May I suggest you save that money and get a nice audio system, if you don't have it. Laptop w/ audio system you can get much more enjoyment. iPad audio port doesn't provide as good sound as MBP.

I repeat my question from the other thread, why on earth do you waste your time on the iPad forums if all you do is hate the product? Get a life.

Off topic but cs, as in communication studies?

don't exchange it iPad 3 on the back is too warm to hold with your bare hands. I would wait for iPad 4 with thinner and new igzino screen.

If you're looking for a fantastic display and a better camera, sure. If not, I really don't see the point, as they're practically the same device.

Just went through the same thing myself. Returned my iPad 2 today for the three. As I suspected, not much instantly noticeable difference, but the screen and cam are both appreciated.

I can also confirm the hot comments as well, I do NOT like that...

When I put the wife's iPad 2 next to the new iPad for say, web browsing or reading their is no contest. The new iPad retina is truly stunning in my opinion.

I get no eye strain at all on the new iPad. If you can afford it then do it. Even if you can't really afford it, you asked the question so your doubting your decision already so go for it! :)

Sorry, but I love the Ipad 3. Granted, I haven't had it very long, but I haven't seen any issues. The screen is simply fantastic. No light bleed. It just looks perfect.

None of my Android tabs even comes to this retina display. :D

It was brand new sealed at frys. They had a random secret sale on them and sold out within an hour of opening on Sunday morning. I work there so that's how I found out and got it.
so much for a "random secret sale"...

I actually haven't had my iPad warm up or get hot all since I got it. Even during games and video. Stays cool. Battery life is also the same as the 2 if not better.

Turns out that the low price is now the regular price and it seems to sell very well for being the 2 despite having the latest and greatest.

I just picked up two iPad 2s. One for me and one for my wife.

Wife has a white 16 GB WiFi (this is her first iPad).
I have a black 64GB 3G (which I was lucky to find) to replace my original iPad.

After the string of disappointments with the iPad 3 screen quality issues, I gave up on it. The iPad 2 runs cool, is noticeably lighter in the hand, has an evenly lit white screen and has the same speed as the iPad 3. Plus, it charges up much faster.

Finally happy. :)
