Bought a refurbished 128GB Air 2 recently for £479, still have time to return it if I want.

I'm interested in the stereo audio of the Pro. Bigger screen is a bonus. Not at all interested in the keyboard or stylus or any 'professional' applications. I use my Air 2 as a media consumption and web browsing device, same would be true for Pro if were to get one.

Stick to Air 2 or go Pro? Price of 128GB Pro (WiFi only) is predicted to be around £800.

Tough call. Seems like the only real benefits for you would be the speakers and the screen size. Lot of money for just those items. IMO. The horsepower of the Pro would be going to waste for your planned usage.

IMO if you don't want the stylus the value of the Pro begins to drop considerably. I'd stick with your Air and see what Apple has in store for the product line down the road.

Well, just return it. If the Pro doesn't please your needs, just return it aswell and wait for a refurbished Air 2 again. Where's the problem?

Haha well the problem is the 67% extra money I'd have to spend (being currently unemployed) as well as returning the several accessories I've purchased for the Air 2.

So I'm just trying to obtain opinions from the community to help me decide and whack sense into my brain if needed.

Sorry, I don't know the whole story here, but since you asked and mentioned you're unemployed, either keep what you have or return it and don't buy a replacement (saving money either way). Use the extra time NOT spent consuming media on your iPad and work hard at your current job—finding a job.

Seriously, though, best of luck in the job hunt, and trust me, I get the need to turn off and disengage every once in a while. What I said above is what I know many wise people would say to me.

You're unemployed, you need the money more than you need iPad Pro. Stick with the current iPad and get iPad Pro 2+ when you have a job.

if your willing to spend that money for the pro, then I would go with the pro.

Right. I must listen to you. I must not be tempted by the shiny things.

Thanks, it's what I needed to be told.

I used my savings to pay for the Air 2 by the way in case you all think I'm magically getting money from trees.

And the reason I'm unemployed is because I've recently graduated from a postgraduate university course.

Unemployed makes it a tough choice....will it help you achieve your goals? If not and it were me, I would just stick with what I have. If it would help me find a job, or accomplish other things to improve the situation then I would try to swing the money for the pro.

Is it worth an extra £400 certainly not for me

Up,to you though, I think the air is the perfect size. Pro too big for me

I agree. I want to add that the iPad Pro is a 1st gen device. There will be some additional refinement and enhancements for the 2nd gen. At the same time, the Air 2 is just starting to get some exclusive capabilities with iOS 9.x.

sounds like your happy paying extra for anything, if your only using for browsing and media you dont need to pay extra for the 128Gb model either

16GB wasn't enough and 64GB wasn't available in the refurbished store when I ordered.

I would not recommend the Pro then as one already stated the stereo audio and bigger screen just is not worth it. You got a good deal on what you paid for the Air 2.

go buy it! man up!
Stop tempting me to the dark side! :p

I've since pondered over whether going down to 32GB with student discount (typically about 4.5% on the Apple Store for iPads) would be worth it. Or student discount with 128GB model.

I shouldn't, but Apple's marketing is very powerful. I'm still finding myself tempted.

bah... one doesn't "man up" by purchasing a "joke" device. ;)

An obtuse reference to another thread calling the iPad Pro a "joke"

If you DO decide on an iPad Pro, IMO you should only consider the 128GB model.

Save your money. You could receive a job offer tomorrow or not for another 3 years. I had a coworker who couldn't find a career type job offer for 3 years after the 2008 market crash. Plan for the long haul and hope it's not. With that being said, everyone needs to unwind so if an iPad will help you get a job/ unwind then just keep what you got.

Good luck on the hunt and never give up!

I just need to hold out until the end of Friday. Resist the temptation until that date and I won't be able to return the Air (the 14 days would have passed) so that'll prevent me from getting the Pro.

You know you want to. Besides, you'll get next week's giro, so whats the problem? Get your priorities sorted man! Joke item or not!

And take sracer's advise - dont skimp on spec.

If you end up out of home and rent and money, at least you'll have ipad pro. Sorted :)
