I just need to hold out until the end of Friday. Resist the temptation until that date and I won't be able to return the Air (the 14 days would have passed) so that'll prevent me from getting the Pro.

Ask yourself this, what am I going to use if I return the Air until the Pro is released? Can you hold out? If so, try the Pro down the road and if it is overkill for your needs just return it and buy an iPad Air 2 again.

You may not be able to live without the Pro so you didn't lose out and will be happy you tried it and returned the Air.

You know you want to. Besides, you'll get next week's giro, so whats the problem? Get your priorities sorted man! Joke item or not!

And take sracer's advise - dont skimp on spec.

If you end up out of home and rent and money, at least you'll have ipad pro. Sorted :)
Haha well I actually have enough in the savings to pay for it as well as the rent :)

Heck, I have enough to pay for it outright without trading the Air in if I were feeling really reckless and irresponsible (which thankfully I'm not!).

I'd use my laptop.

The laptop is a bit bulky (it's a gaming laptop) so that's why I wanted a tablet so that I could use the tablet in bed and the laptop for productivity, gaming and desk use. The laptop is quite cumbersome to use in bed because it needs a cooling pad and such to prevent the fans being blocked. It also suffers from some light bleed which is sadly common in laptops but not tablets, which is another big factor in why I wanted a tablet.

Since you asked, I think it's nuts to buy a first-gen device that has a significant price tag and does very little that the Air 2 doesn't do for you (since you're not talking about needing the specialized features of the iPP) while you're unemployed. If you really need a bigger screen for media, very good TVs in the under 32" (whatever that is in cm ;) ) size classes are available for a ton (tonne?) less than the iPP...

Agreed. I'm not also sold on how the iPad Pro will be as a handheld device. Most pictures and videos depict it as something you put on a table rather than keep in your hands. It weighs almost twice as much as the iPad Air 2. I imagine by this time next year they will introduce a new model that is lighter and faster, possibly also iOS 10 that might be able to make better use of the Pro's screen space.

78% larger screen. 3 times the audio output and stereo too.

This is how I feel right now;

Well I've just spoken to my brother who was the one who insisted I get an iPad instead of an Android tablet and even he thought it wasn't worth the extra money and I should wait until I have more money to spare if I want to get the Pro in future.

I should probably listen to him and everyone else who's advised that here in this thread. Just have to get through tomorrow and I won't be tempted anymore as the 14 day return window will have expired.

One more day of torture...

Haha well the problem is the 67% extra money I'd have to spend (being currently unemployed) as well as returning the several accessories I've purchased for the Air 2.

So I'm just trying to obtain opinions from the community to help me decide and whack sense into my brain if needed.

Just keep the iPad air and enjoy it. You'll be happy, it's a great machine.

ON a table? Hell, I've got two sets of table legs on order. Gonna glue 'em onto the back of a pair of iPPs and make end tables out of them. Need to find some clear coasters to put beers down on so we don't scratch the screens.

Does the iPad Pro screen have coaster rejection? ;) Also spider monkeys.

Considering you have a gaming laptop, I expect you use it frequently. Honestly, if I was in your shoes, I'd keep the Air. The Air is a supplement to something that you have which is portable (just not *as* portable), which is fine. Especially if you like the size and weight of the Air.

In my case, my tablet is my laptop these days. I have use cases that benefit from the larger screen and the stylus. But I agree with others that this isn't a tablet you just hold like the Air or the Mini.

Bought a refurbished 128GB Air 2 recently for £479, still have time to return it if I want.

I'm interested in the stereo audio of the Pro. Bigger screen is a bonus. Not at all interested in the keyboard or stylus or any 'professional' applications. I use my Air 2 as a media consumption and web browsing device, same would be true for Pro if were to get one.

Stick to Air 2 or go Pro? Price of 128GB Pro (WiFi only) is predicted to be around £800.
air 2 has good stereo. For stylus..u could use it with iPad air 2...just that pressure of the pen will be different.

Luckily, I've got no interest in a stylus :)

You just answered your own question. Stick with what have and enjoy it and the fact you saved several hundred bucks. Down he road when you get a new job, then maybe look back into it.

It's done. I successfully resisted the temptation. My 14 day return window has expired. I kept the Air 2. It's mine forever now. There shall be no Pro until I can find a job (for the sake of my sanity, I hope that I will find employment soon).
