I have no reason to lie. I LOVE my MB, and the display is excellent. I have seen some inferior ones at the store, but mine is really great. It all depends on the manufacturer I guess...

Just curious, but have you really examined how your MB handles blacks? The test I usually do in stores is to put it on the planet earth wallpaper and look at them side-by-side to see how true colors are when messing with brightness.

I just came from the Apple Store and Best Buy because I'm shopping for one of these, and the results are pretty consistent. The MBP screens achieve a very nice contrast ratio and accurate blacks while the MB's are VERY washed out. And I've been looking around and have seen no info regarding two separate display manufacturers.

If you have a great screen that is great. I calibrate all my screens and have no problems with the air, mbp 15" and latest 17". However the MB's I have had a few with different screens I could not get calibrated to a point where i was satisfied. I am not talking about viewing angles as I am sat in front of the laptop. It is not just the contrast, colour it's a whole lot of little things that I am not articulate enough to convey into words.

I went to the Apple Store last night, and I decided that I want the Macbook Pro. I used the MBP first, and going to the MB just felt too small. I'm going to put the MB up in the marketplace!
