Let's read it the other way around, the only thing that BlackBerry has over the iPhone is BlackBerry Messenger.

The iPhone is better in every other aspect, you just have to look at it once to know that.

You can get apps that act as a multiple-platform chat surface, so in a sense BBM is SORTA on iPhone.

A friend of mine just got the iPhone 4 a few weeks ago after using a blackberry for years, she likes the functionality of it but she cannot stand the keyboard. She's thinking about switching back for that reason alone.

Take what you will from it.

Sort of, because Push notifications aren't that great, for example WhatsApp sometimes shows notifications an hour late, while BBM is almost instant (i'm not debating wether or not Push is better because I like push as it preserves my battery, but it still needs work)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

As an Ex-Crackberry addict let me list the things that iPhones have over Blackberries

iPhones:
-great iPod feature
- Apps (blackberry apps are just not as fun)
- better battery (iPhone 4)
-looks better

blackberries are good for businesses, VPN and are good for Emails and BBM

For a Torch? Hell yeah!

For a QNX-powered BlackBerry phone? Maybe not. Just wait if the PlayBook succeeds in the tablet wars because I believe the next generation BlackBerrys will get even better with a slick OS like that. At this point, just get an iPhone because QNX and dual core BB may not come around for awhile. Even if the Apple updates its iPad's hardware by alot this year, QNX still looks slicker to me than iOS. Even Honeycomb is surpassing iOS.

Hi,

I've had the iPhone3G, BB curve 8900, BB bold 9700, BB torch, and recently switched to iPhone4.

I've been "anti" Apple for a very long time and believed in Blackberry for over 2 years. I was an active member on the CrackBerry forums and always on top of the latest OS releases, new phones, etc..,

Let me tell you; it's NOTHING like BB! Everything it does, it does 10 times better. Except for the typing of course :) So if you're an extremely heavy e-mailer, you might reconsider.

Only thing I missed in the beginning was BBM. But with whatsapp, the insanely beautiful and large screen, tons of GOOD apps (lets be honest, BB app world sucks), and the extremely comfortable browsing; there is no way I am ever going back.

If there's anything you'd like to know, please ask.

Also the Torch feels alot bigger.

The browsing on OS6 with the combination of the touchscreen is an immense improvement in comparison to earlier devices; but navigating through websites (and/or menu's, programs) still feels a lot "laggier" than with the iPhone4. Also the iPhone's retina screen and resolution makes the text much much sharper.

So in my opinion, unless you send 50 mails a day, I'd head to the store today; get yourself the iPhone4 and tell your BBM friends to download WhatsApp.

I've owned several BB's mainly for they are fun to text on due to a real keyboard. However, I'm on my second iPhone and would never go back. iPhone is feature rich and BB is not.

I'd wait for the next version of the iPhone and try it out when it arrives. Certainly I can tell you that i come form a BB/iPhone family and my ex has always bought the kids (teenagers) BB's. And they always comment on the things my iPhone can do do that the BB can't and they constantly borrow my phone. So far as I can tell the only BB advantage is the is the physical keyboard, if you prefer that sort of thing, and BBM (although you should perhaps check out Whatsapp). Overall, BB and iPhones are both very high quality and do well what they are designed to do - it's just a matter of your priorities about the features you would like.

Welcome to MR!

I had a the original iPhone and moved over to a BB 8900 for a year. Unless you are using the BB for work (email)/BBM, then yes without a doubt move over to it. The iPhone is leaps and bounds better then any of the new BB's

I jumped Ship

To OP, i used to have a blackberry bold, and an iPod Touch. I realised that really most of my time was spent on net specific services which unfortunaltey the BB OS just lacked in. Made the jump to iOS and have not looked back since. TBH iOS is much more solid an option. Only snag i have with it is i miss the physical keyboard on BB. But hey thats the only thing for me.

Should I sell my Blackberry Torch to get an iPhone?

That is a very personal decision. If you ask that same question in a Blackberry forum the answers will be very different from the ones here.

Personally I love the iOS, but different people have different needs in a phone. Check out an iPhone at the ATT store or Apple store and see if you like the os and phone.

I have a BB Storm and am on the pre-order list for the vPhone. I'm not going to sell my BB, though. I'm going to run over it with my car so no other poor soul has to be aggravated by it. :)

Depends what you use your phone for. I had an iPhone 3G for a year but switched to a BlackBerry, and haven't looked back. I love the physical keyboard, BBM, and the way apps are integrated into the OS (you can send a photo to Facebook or Twitter directly from the camera app, for example - on iOS you need to open the appropriate app then upload it). Notifications and multitasking is also much better done on the BB than iOS. Also, the fact that BBs compress data before it gets sent to the device means that I can have a lower data plan, so I save a lot of money.

I have an iPod Touch so I can play around with the latest apps and games, and it is certainly a better MP3 player than the BB, but I much prefer the BB as a phone/communications device.

When my mom got the blackberry was around the same time I got my iPhone. She had a chance to return it and get the iphone due to some f***ups on the shipping company and AT&T and I tried to convince her (I was already in love with my phone). She decided to stay.

I got to play with it when I went to visit her. It was awful and annoying and only a little better to go on the internet than my previous (dumb) phone. It seemed more like a dumb phone given a keyboard to make going on the internet a little easier.

She admitted she wished she took my advice (after seeing her co-workers iphone and mine). Apparently she thought she needed the blackberry for work reasons and turned out either she could use the iphone or couldn't use the blackberry anyways. She got an iphone once her plan ran out and she was so in love with it that she was trying to convert everyone. Took her quite a few months to calm down from her excitement. She even replaced her car GPS with Navigon on the iphone.

So, I'd say yes, definitely go with the iphone.
