I know that it's wrong, and odds are I won't end up doing it. By the time that my MacBook Pro is sold and shipped, it would probably be a week before they're announced. I have another laptop in my house that isn't often used; only by my mom (yes I live with my mom, I'm a teenager) for college work and she's done for the school year right now. I also have my iPhone 4S that I could use. However there are certain programs that I DO need for my job (I work for a photographer) so I don't know how long I would be able to go without one. I wouldn't be able to borrow my mom's laptop because it uses Windows and I use many Mac-only programs.

But really, is one return going to harm this company that much? People say that it drives the prices up for us but I doubt that the pricing will change much at all for the next gen of MacBooks...

Prices are set by a lot of things. Keep in mind that next year may be an even more significant upgrade. As far as one return is concerned, there is no guarantee that anything will be announced at WWDC. It's being hyped for a few reasons even though it contradicts Apple's behavior over the past few years of making it about software, not hardware. Even if they do announce it then, there isn't a guarantee of immediate availability, and any kind of custom configuration may push things back. If they make any drastic design changes, it would make me wait to hear about any potential problems.

I plan on buying the new MacBook Pro's being announced at WWDC (assuming new ones will be announced then?), so they're probably going to be on sale next month. Should I sell my early 2011 15" MacBook Pro now? Or wait until the week before WWDC? It's already getting pretty close, and I want to get as much money out of it as I can.

I've been watching prices quite closely. You're too late for the highest price, as they been sliding downward over the last six weeks.

This is normal since used Mac buyers are usually very smart and know what the trends are. Once it becomes apparent new models are near production most knowlegeable sellers list theirs right away.

If you're serious I'd hurry & list it now. Everyday that passes you're losing more money.

I suppose. I believe in karma myself so I would probably end up dropping it, or spilling water on it, or something. I'll just list my MacBook late next week and use my mom's laptop until the new MacBook's are out.

Good luck on the sale of your MBP. Hope you get top dollar for it.

I wouldn't do that unless there are major dents. That's a pretty expensive part and I don't think the difference in final sale price with or without a new part would justify it.

Well, there's one lighter dent near the top, and then 3 small pinhole looking dents near the bottom. I don't think a replacement would help much myself, and plus I really don't feel like taking it all apart. I'll cut the price to $1,299 BIN or something like that and see where it goes.

That's true, but I could always buy a MacBook Air or something to hold me over until then. I would rather take the risk now and sell it instead of selling it after the new model is announced and losing money.

Really? Hmm, well I guess I better get it listed soon then... I'll get my listing together tomorrow. Being without a Mac for that long will suck :(

Thankyou! :D I'll let you guys know how much I get.

To be fair though, these companies make millions in profit, so don't feel too sorry for them.

To be fair, companies spend millions of dollars a week to pay their employees, for the effort they put in, it is a shame that many people out their do not understand how people are able to buy the things they want..

The immorality of people just astounds me at time, and then to admit it openly..

Does your current not satisfy you needs compared to when you first bought it?

If yes, then by all means sell it for the new one.
If not, keep it.

Another possibility if you can buy the new one, see if it's worth upgrading to, and if it is, then sell the old one. If it's not worth it, return the new one. Obvious a more generous allowance would be required for the latter.
