I buy all my apple devices at Apple now since I find if I need to get it replaced easy to do it there.... Bestbuy requires your iD which I'm not crazy about

Why does Bestbuy require an ID as it's just an iPad like a TV or a book for sale or even an iPhone. I would not give any store my ID for any sale. Sounds like Bestbuy is on selling your details. I'm clad we don't have ID in New Zealand but in Australia you need ID for a sim card purchase, Police State

It's not for sale but should you need to do an exchange or return they require iD unless prohibited by law. At least in the states

Over a month ago I bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and I really don't like it anymore because it lags too much, I'm not really into Android, and I want a bigger screen. I'm thinking of selling it and getting the iPad Air 2 64 GB. I also have the Mid 2014 15" MBPr (i7 2.5/16/512/750M), and iPhone 5s. Is it worth the upgrade to the iPad Air 2?

Why did you bought powerful and hot Samsung Tab S 8.9 first place? :apple:

I bought a 8.4 Tab (the model before the Tab S, when it was on sale) and returned it in 2 days. What a pile of crap.

I recommend the Air 2 hands down over any Samsung tablet.

I'm surprised that the S 8.4 lags. I have a Pro 8.4 and it is as smooth as butter. I recently rooted mine and froze the Samsung bloatware.... not only did it make it even speedier, but I can add any app to the multi-window function. I love the support for microSD cards and USB devices. I use a BT Motorola keyboard w/trackpoint which is very nice.

But if you're not into Android you're not into Android. I have a 64GB iPad 4 that I use as well. It would be hard for me to pick one over the other.

The standard WiFi Tab S has a slower processor than the Pro 8.4. I have the Pro 8.4 myself, got it for $175 from Best Buy and actually really like that tab. I like to have tabs from both ecosystems for fun. I have an iPad Air 2 and it is the smoothest tab I've ever used. But, my Nexus 7 and Tab Pro 8.4 both work relatively speedy. If anyone is considering a Tab S know that the Verizon 4g version has a speedier processor than the others. They are finally coming down in price after being (IMHO) overpriced for the last 8 months.

I never tried Samsung tablets but I tried Android tablet (Kit Kat 4.4.2) it is lagging real awful and not very smooth as iOS. Apps are terrible and crashed all the times. I don't know why people still buying Android devices? I didn't buy it but I got it for free from AT&T last year. :apple:

You must of bought a very cheap Android tablet....

Ugh. I've had two Samsung tablets. I had a brief anti-Apple period (because of some bad influences ;) ) and I owned a Note 8.0 and a Note 10.1 2014 Edition. The battery life was so bad. I love tablet gaming, but I couldn't play for more than 30 minutes before having to plug in. Also, the lag, the bloat, the ugly OS. Crapsung.

As someone who loves Android phones Apple is the king of the tablet. I won't even consider a Samsung tablet because their upgrading policy is nonexistent. The only reason why I bought the Note 4 was for Gear VR and the features but now I just want reliable. So far my iPad Air 2 has given me no issues. And because of that I'm looking serious at dumping Android altogether. My only issue is lack of updates. I'm getting tired of it.
If Google releases a 5" phone on all carriers I'm in. If not I'm with Apple.

You see lack of updates as a negative. I see it as neutral or even a positive. I have not had good experiences with Apple updating iOS on my iPads... and not having the option of downgrading. The performance of my Android devices are as good today as the day that I purchased them. I haven't run across an app that I use that I was unable to upgrade because I wasn't at the latest version of Android.

Of the iPad 1, 2, and 4 that I currently own, only the iPad 1 performs as well as it did the day that I bought it (5.1). The 2 is virtually a vegetable on 8.3, the 4 is barely tolerable on 8.3.

If I had the option to downgrade the 2 and 4 back to 6, I'd do it in a heartbeat (that could be tracked by the :apple:Watch ;) )

On my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 i could play more than 30 minutes more like about 3/4 hours of tablet gaming on a single charge but at the same time i don't play heavy demanding games like GTA, FIFA.

I mostly play very casual games like Doodle Jump, Temple Run 1/2, Flick Shoot 2 and Bus/ Cop/Police chase simulator games and more..

But your Samsung tablets should NOT be having ssues like that!!!

You're asking if you should sell a non-Apple device for an Apple device on a website that focuses mainly on Apple products.

IMO, I haven't used the 8.4, but I have used the old Tab when it first came out and I returned it within 2 hours. I think that says enough.

I guess he's expecting people to beopen minded.

I have to Tab S 8.4 LTE - Euro version - and am very happy with it. That after having bought Ipad Mini and then Ipad Mini 2 and being sorely dissapointed with the screen quality and browser refreshing annoyances on both.

I even used the Tab S 8.4 as my "phone" for a while when I broke my nain phone. It was s surprisingly fine.

Vs the Ipads I think the plus is screen quality is a step up and using Chrome much better and I dont lodr browser pages in airplane mode. Plus the SD card makes this a great "TV" for travelling with kids etc. Only negative in my experience is you have tobe smarter about power management usepower saving modeet in order to get ipad like battery life. Like someobe above said, root it and its even better. Not hard to do.

The original thread starter is comparing apples and oranges though - the Ipad Air 2 is a bigger device and not the correct comparable.

Overally I'd say this Tab S 8.4 is good device. For the money well worth it and I will be open to the next generation which they are launching this summer as per the rumours.

The deal killer is the browser and it doesn't make any difference which one, they all suck. Lollipop 5.02 helps somewhat but only slightly.
Samsung and Google are the "big brother" of the Android machine and their presence is always there and very real.
1Password? Forget it, it's only a reader.

I forgot how much I missed Touch ID on the iPad. This was another swing and miss on the Samsung. After owning the Tab S for about a week, the left side of the screen just above and below the home screen button started to squeak when pushed.
The lightening cable can be plugged into the iPad with little thought and almost no light. The charging cable on the Galaxy is quite another story.

I suppose if I'd have never owned an iPad I might be quite satisfied with this tablet but I've been spoiled by Apple for too long to settle for second best.
