I have wifi at home and wifi at school. Basically everywhere I would use my phone, I have internet, and when I am anywhere else I am usually paying attention to my surroundings.
Same. All you have to do is make sure you aren't streaming/downloading videos and apps and such when you're off wifi. I'm on 200 mb now and only got close the first couple of months, now I'm smarter with my usage.

I switched from the unlimited to the 200mb to save money. At first I had gon over I believe three out of the fourn months with my iPhone. but after I realizhow the small amount the data I have a then relized I can't just use it when I want. just try to use it on wifif witch I am always in range of.

I still get a good month of use, I feel, like when I really need it I use it. I can use maps gps for a good amount of time with out going over.

The one thing I did like is being able to be on edge and save a little bit of battery.

but with some good discipline, and will smart using (and wifi) you should be good with 200mb.

Ever since those beginning months o have only gone over one other month. Withc I was aware that I was toning to go over. When ever I'm in NYC the service is horrible and I usually end up going over so now in NYC I just don't use my phone.

Just switched yesterday

Yesterday I switched from unlimited to 200 MB. I've been using iPhone since 2008. Currently using iPhone 4. Monthly I average 10 GB over wifi, but less than 100 MB over 3G/Edge.

I decided it's just not worth the extra expense "just in case" I want or need to pull more data.

And personally I think that AT&T won't extend grandfathered unlimited into their upcoming 4G services. Only a matter of time before unlimited dies out.

But bottom line for me -- just wasn't getting enough value out of it.

15$ a month is 360 over 2 years.
it's 720 dollars over 4 years.

yet still only 15$ a month ...
i wouldn't want to have to limit myself in any way on the device i use the most throughout my everyday life because of a meager 15$ a month.
save those 15$ on something else, not on your smartphone.

generally, i'm not a big fan of these kinds of calculations.
if you buy a can of soda for 50 cents each day, that's 365 dollars over 2 years ... it's still just a can of soda every day.
but then again, i don't know about your financial situation.
but then again, if +/- 15 dollars each month would be a significant change in your disposable monthly budget, i'm not sure an iPhone is the best device for you to start with ;)

that + what others said about having unlimited but not needing it being better than not having unlimited and needing it some day.

With all the cloud services that are coming soon unlimited data will be useful in the near future more than ever. Mobile devices will only be using more data not less.

You could get by on 2GB easy--but not 200mb. I've only gone over 2GB once when I didn't have a home internet connection for awhile after I moved. That being said, I'd keep your plan--its only $5 more.
