Well, what state did you receive the machine in? Did you clean install the OS? Have you repaired the permissions? An old machine requires some proper maintenance before usage, even if its a Mac.

Your problem is flash implementation on OS X. A G4...any G4 will struggle. Your only option is to watch the SD 320x240 videos. Attempting to watch HD/HQ flash videos will cause you to weep. Alternatively maybe download Perian...although i'm not sure if that'll help

Also don't try to run Leopard on a G4..Tiger is a better suited OS from experience IMHO

I agree that online video is a casualty of the software war between Apple and the Adobe Flash unit and not the hardware.

Just dont select high quality/high definition even if giving the option
I don't know why i recommended Perian, it only allows you play a wide range of formats. I dont think it'll really help

Tiger is less resource intensive than Leopard.

you're mad because a 7 year old computer is slow?

yes iam.
my friend has a 9 year old windows laptop which plays videos better than this and he was laughin at this POS PB.lol
i just bought this PB for 150.
i see some people still paying 500 for these PB. I DONT KNOW FOR WHAT.
IAM STARTING TO HATE MACS.
this is get on my nerves
mac 2 year old computers probably do the same thing.

what should i do with this PB??????????

thanks

Why are you starting to hate macs???? You got a 7 year old PowerBook! At the time things weren't as intensive. If I based whether I liked macs on a 7 year old PowerBook, I would probably still be on a PC. After 5 years, most laptops are about done with keeping up with modern standards.

iam hating just alittle bit for now. hoping i can fix?

so why dont 5-9year old windows laptops dont have this problem?

I think you should keep it if it still looks ok. But don't expect any macs to excel or even play nice when it comes to flash.
Anyway, keep it, but use it for something like a mediaserver (er, with a bigger/external hdd). Or hell, use it as back up word-editor, or as the "back-up" Target mode installation computer (if you have another FW equipped Mac, that is). It's certainly still useable with a bit of ram, methinks.

They don't have that problem because Macs have always (and still do) sucked [rear, behind, bottom, "donkey"] when it comes to flash. They really have (and do).

I have a 17" PB set-up with 1.33 GHz PPC G4 running on 1 GB DDR SDRAM. True, it's an older rig. However, I have no issues viewing on-line videos on hulu and the like.

Although, this laptop is a bit dated, it is still a steady and dependable work horse. I have never had in issues with it in the 7 years that I have owned it. I trust that you find a timely resolve for your situation.

Dude you are BUGGING. Chill out for a little. The computer is almost 8 years old. So because you cant watch a movie like its a brand new computer means that you hate Macs? My MacBook Pro is 2 years old and it still runs faster than any Windows computer. Your PB probably has a 32MB ATI 9000 in it??

Sell it. That old PowerBook is not going to perform like a new Mac. It does not reflect what current Intel based Macs are capable of. In fact, Apple switched to Intel because it's a much better CPU.

Sell it for $500, if that is what you can get for it. That is a lot for a seven year old Mac. But, sell it and buy a Mac mini for $599. A new Mac mini would do anything you would want as long as you have an external monitor.

Don't hate Macs because a seven year old Mac cannot perform like a new one. Also, you get what you pay for. The Mac mini is the best way for a switcher to get into the Mac and understand the differences and how the Mac is a superior OS to Windows.

Good luck.

Just about all of my family members are Mac users. In my household our Windows based laptops and desktops are stored in the garage with the exception of one desktop unit. I reserve that one particular unit for my work on AutoCAD.

Over the years, I have build so many desktop systems and modded out many of my laptops . . . Always to come back and my trusted Macs.

I'm not sure exactly what you might be experiencing with your particular unit, but I'm sure that you are experiencing a real issue. However, have it looked at and give it a chance. I have never met a Mac convert whom was not pleased with their decision to switch nor whom has gone back to the other.
