I upgraded from a 4, but I think LTE alone made the upgrade worth it. I don't know how I survived without it. It's brilliantly fast.

No more app lag is great too. I felt my 4 was perfect for my needs until I actually played with a new 5s. Going back now would feel like going back to the Stone Age.

Three letters: LTE.

Well, those three letters are not going to do a trick for me, my friend! Or for most people who like me, live in UK, and not in one of the big cities.
God knows when we will get even a glimpse of 4G here, but 3G is solid, so 4S rock solid as well :D
Thats my point :p

I had a 4S and wasn't going to upgrade until the 6 came out but I ended up upgrading to the 5S unexpectedly. It's a long story.

Anyway, the upgrade was worth it to me for one reason: WEIGHT. I don't know what the quantitative difference in weight actually is, but the qualitative difference is huge. I barely notice the phone in my pocket whereas the 4S made its presence very well known. It's better in normal pants and even more so at the gym.

LTE is nice, sure, but I'm usually on Wifi. An extra row of icons, big whoop. TouchID is cool but alone does not make an upgrade worth it. Performance-wise, I never had a problem with my 4S and I honestly don't notice any performance improvement in the 5S, but I also don't demand much from a phone.

For me, it's all about the weight.

I usually upgrade every other release, so I guess it's about that time.

Has anybody made this jump? i'm mostly concerned about performance and video since I tend to do a lot more gaming these days. Is the performance increase between 4s and 5s that noticeable?

DO IT... unbelievable difference...

Go for it, the 5 is a great phone, great photos, great videos, great speed. I went from the 5 to the 5 and yet for me it is still a great phone. Apart from that despite what you may have read, it has great security. Don't wait, bite the bullet, go get your shinny new iPhone, you will love it.:D:D:D

The performance is extremely high but the feel of the phone is not great IMO. The 4S was a better size for a phone but I prefer smaller phones anyways so an iPhone mini would be my preference. The physical materials feel flimsy on the 5S compared to the 4S and the new 5C. Again, just my opinion but I care about how the product feels in the hand.

Maybe the feel is better with the (black) 5S case? Did anyone try it? I preferred the 5C, but still ordered the 5S for the specs.

I would definitely upgrade from the 4S to the 5S.
You get a lot , let me list them.....

1) bigger screen
2)Faster processor by 4
3) touch id
4) thinner phone
5)camera tweaks
