OP, you are considering installing irreversible garbage on your iPhone due to a small red “1” icon in settings?
I wouldn't call it garbage, but there are other things to think about…

LOL! The count on the Mail app includes more than one account. But, I don't tend to tap on certain types of mail, like receipts and such. If it's advisory, it's usually in the subject headline and I don't need to look at it. So it remains 'unread' and adds to the badge count.

With the fact that email storage largely stopped being a thing years ago I can just leave stuff. It's stored on an IMAP server somewhere anyway. That's what the Search feature is for if I need it. It's a record.

And I've never been notified by any of my email providers that I'm reaching my storage limit.

I'm capable of ignoring things, especially if I know what a badge is. That badge on my Settings app isn't for an update - it's my phone telling me I've gone too long since my last backup. I'll get to it. When I'm ready to.

Yeah, emails are boring.
I ignore them too (iPhone Xʀ on iOS 12):

Also 3 in settings because iOS 12

Yeah, the incessant backup notifications are annoying, I don’t have backups at all because I just store my pictures elsewhere and the rest is on iCloud individually (like notes and pages documents)

Everything on my phone is somewhere else, although 90 percent of it is not with iCloud. I do backup though, primarily because it's convenient if I ever have to restore. Not because I'd lose anything or care if I did.

Yeah, me too, thing is, as I keep older iOS version I can’t restore anything, so it’s a no-go for me. So I must keep things elsewhere because I can never restore a backup (and when I upgrade I start anew anyway).

No.
Wait for the final release of iOS 26, that’s going to be the final release for your iPhone 11.
See online how it handles, iAppleBytes will probably release a comparison video comparing iOS 18.7 and iOS 26.x on an iPhone 11/Pro.
Then, and only then should you decide how much the reduced battery life animation lack will impact your phone for the rest of its life.
Sorry. Will do the same with our old 11 Pro probably.

I have the 512GB 11 Pro Max and I'm on 26.4.2. I have zero issues. The first day I went to 26, I took a battery hit, but the day after it evened out and has been fine since. I attribute that to all the after upgrade processes.
You seem to be an edge case then. Zero issues? Not even on my 15 Pro do I have zero issues, and battery live is the biggest.

Yes, over the years here on MacRumors I have been pronounced as a minority/edge case many times. I don't use my stuff like other people do.

But, yeah. Zero issues.

As I stated somewhere else, there is nothing I do now that I didn't do in 2009 with my phone. I have other devices for other things and my phone serves the function of a phone. Calls, texts, email, light web browsing when out and sometimes streaming music.

I'm not using my phone as a computer, a game console, or a TV. I have better devices for all of that and most of them have screens that blow the dinky little screen of my 11PM (and my other phones) out of the water. Why for instance, would I watch a TV show on my phone when I'm already sitting in front of my 55" HDTV? And if I'm somewhere where that stuff isn't accessible, I'm going to do something like that on my iPad - which has a larger screen.

So, if my 11 Pro Max running iOS 26 cannot handle the Phone app, the Messages app, the Mail app, my music streaming app and my browser app (from time to time) then there are more serious issues afoot. But because those apps never seem to have any issues - I have no issues.

If it were me, I’d probably update to the latest iOS 18 security release and leave iOS 26 alone unless there’s a specific feature or app requirement pushing you there.

The 64GB storage would be my main hesitation, especially if the phone is already feeling close to full. Once you jump to 26 there’s no easy way back, and the iPhone 11 is old enough now that I’d value stability over new features.

For light use it may be fine, but if the phone is being used for maps, car display/gauge apps, Safari, photos, etc, I’d be cautious. I’d rather keep it boring and reliable on iOS 18 than risk making it feel slower just to clear the update nag.

I have mine set to iOS 18 Public Beta to avoid the nag.
