All depends on what you need, if the benefit in power and upgrades is worth it productivity wise or personally then yes. I just picked up a 2017 Touch Bar and have no problem with what I use it for and the benefit of picking it up like new open box for a great price outweighed the additions to the 2018. The keyboard doesn't bother me and True Tone doesn't make a big difference in my opinion.

I think 1700 is priced way too high for a used 2017. For reference I have seen several sales for brand new 2017 Touch Bar models for around 1400. I think you will likely see between 1200-1400 depending on condition, accessories, etc (if you're talking USD)

Its a 512Gb one, is why its priced so high. I have the keyboard replacement program for piece of mind and with that also comes a new battery. I'll probably just save the money and hang on to what I have. The most extensive thing I do is I dabble in photoshop anyway.

I personally wouldn’t think that the upgrade is worth it. Based on your currently complaints and wants with the keyboard being loud, instead of buying a new MacBook Pro, maybe you can try this?

https://www.moshi.com/en/product/cl...ctor-for-macbook-pro-with-touch-bar/us-layout

It should firstly muffle your typing plus should beable to protect a bit from crumbs and what not.

As for True Tone, can’t help with that.

If it works for you it works, maybe wait another year or two when Apple does a full redesign.
Do you have one of these? If so do you like it?

Yup currently using one on mine. Biggest complaint is that it does lessen the clarity of the TB a bit. Well...it’s not as if I use it that much. But personally, I’ve used these on my older Macs as well and years after They still look so clean!

How often do you buy new Macs? If every 3-4 years, I’d probably wait. If you have a keyboard problem, it seems you’ll get the new updated keyboard when sent off for service. Then as for TrueTone, if you prefer a warmer display, adjust the display’s colour profile. I always ran my Macs slightly warmer (not so far to be orange), even if it didn’t fit in with the environment.

OP, Apple has stated that it will NOT use the new keyboards for 2016 and 2017 repairs.

I have a 2017 15" MBP, and I think it's a great machine. The keyboard issue is a red herring for most owners.

Well, I spoke too soon on not having keyboard issues. I just got my 2017 12" MacBook keyboard replaced and while it was being replaced, I started having issues with my 13" 2017 MBP so now the keyboard is getting replaced. Some keys were sticking. So now that I am getting the keyboard replacement should I just be happy with what I have and not worry with upgrading to a 2018? So far I have zero interest in my 2017 13" 512 gb, 8gb of ram MBP. Nobody has even contacted me regarding buying it.
