If you can live without an iPad for a while, then get the iPad 5. Desperate? iPad 4.

But honestly, with the new iPad Mini coming out I don't think the iPad 5 will be much new. What would I do? Wait. And if the 5 doesn't seem much different except a bettter screen, then I would just get the iPad 4 because it would be cheaper then. And i would be keeping my iPad 2 until then.

sounds good enough thx.

I'm chilling with my 2 until either a great mini 2 or the 5, but the 2 does just fine for me. Think ill sell MacBook then as well and just run my small biz with my iMac and iPad.

hey guys.. I have a question. I already sold one of my ipad 2 and i'm selling another ipad2... should i wait for ipad 5 or get iPad 4.. The reason why i'm getting it is because i need an iPad and wasn't sure if i should but or wait...but then who knows when it come out. Wait or buy? need rationale with your answers.

Your answer is already in your question.

If you "need" an iPad now - get the iPad 4.

If you "want" an iPad - wait for the iPad 5.

The iPad 4 and 3 are going to be a paperweight, if the part leaks of the iPad 5 serve to be true. i would wait, and don't buy in what other say by getting a iPad 4 now you will be only losing money by the time the iPad 5 comes out which is merely 5 months away, if you got a iPhone use that as a substitute.

So the 3rd and 4th gen ipads will stop working when the 5 comes out? Please enlighten us.

If you need it buy now. The iPad 4 is wonderful.

A major upgrade is rumored for the 5th. One should therefore buy 3rd or 4th gen if and only if one really needs it.

I'm not saying he should or shouldn't buy a 4. I'm referring to the paper-weight comment. Calling something a paper-weight means it loses it's ability to function, therefore, you can only use it as a paper-weight, or door stop, or something of that nature.

Sorry I sounded pessimistic and threw you off the discussion, what I meant to say is that the previous iPads are heavy and not as sleek as the rumoured next gen, hence the term paperweight.

My best advice would be same advice I gave myself.

I prefer not to buy stuff on launch day. I like to wait a little while, read the reviews, and Google as much information as I can. That takes time because it takes time for a consensus to develop - two, three, maybe four months. Assuming the iPad 5 launches this Fall, I therefore wouldn't consider buying it until after the Holidays. Based on what I was able research about the iPad 4 waiting that long did not seem logical, so I bought now with the intent of keeping it for at least one year. By then I will have gotten plenty of use out of the 4, and the actual iPad 5 (not some analysts prediction), along with a trove of information on the internet, will be around to compare against.
