Really depends on what your current device is and if you can be satisfied with it for another year. If you have a 6S, I'd say hold out.

Because you already ordered the iPhone 7, I say try it out. If it works well for you, keep it, and if you don't like it, you can return the device to Apple within a few days.

Personally I did not really like the 6/6s designs. The 7 is ok but I'm not ready to give up the headphone jack until wireless headsets are a bit more mature. So I went with an SE. Should keep me going for awhile since it has the same CPU as the 6s.

i would say bluetooth headsets are pretty good right now. it just depends on who you buy them from. quality ones aren't cheap.

I'd wait for the iPhone 8 even if I had an iPhone 5 at this point. The main reason for that is because I don't want another device with the lightning connector. IF we're gonna have USB C in the next iOS devices, lightning chargers will be discontinued as well as lightning headphones. Which means this generation iPhone's would be a poor transition model that took away the headphone jack without replacing it with a real substitute.

Lightning should just go away now that we have a connector that everyone will- and are using.

I'd feel pretty dumb if I sat around for a year and then Apple decides to stick with lightning.

They aren't going to go to USB C because then they would lose the money from licensing lightning connectors to other companies.

I was going to wait but I may pick up a 7Plus and get it on the year trade in on AT&T, the next one is rumored to be the complete redesign, i'm extremely interested in getting one, but i think it might be a good idea to get one after the 1st batch, let them work out the kinks, the demand is sure to be insane so it will prob be a few months to be able to get one anyway.

Get a used iphone 6S and wait for the next iphone. I got my iPhone 6S plus 128gb off Craigslist for $450. The iPhone 7 is definitely not worth the premium over a used iphone 6S.
